Zone Solution Partner/ Msft Group Demo Description Cloud Solutions for Media Cloud-based Digital Asset Management This demonstration will show Harris Invenio (Digital Asset Management) using the power of Windows Azure cloud in both breaking news and national event scenarios. In the breaking news scenario we will show a citizen journalist takes video footage of a newsworthy event. The video is then sent to the news station which stores their footage on Windows Azure. Once the video arrives in the cloud, the video is encoded to be streamed over a variable bit-rate network. Finally, the video is streamed to a producer who decided if the footage is applicable to their broadcast of the story. Cloud-based Transcoding Digital Rapids is showcasing the new 2.0 version of the award-winning, high-volume, enterprise- class Digital Rapids Transcode Manager ® software. The new cloud transcoding capabilities of Transcode Manager 2.0 are being demonstrated on the Windows Azure cloud services platform, offering seamless integration between on-premises and cloud-based media processing. Transcode Manager 2.0 combines outstanding quality, intelligent automation, and exceptional performance for transforming media between acquisition, production, archive and distribution formats. Transcoding tens of thousands of clips daily for many of the world’s largest media organizations, Transcode Manager expands multi-screen opportunities with output for all viewing platforms from mobile devices to traditional television. Cloud-based Digital Content Management Digital Content Management solutions from TechPath enable companies to better leverage their digital assets by providing workflow, automation, collaboration, security and business process management capabilities. Using the KeyOS Encryption Service For Windows, we will package 1Tb of Smooth Streaming content in parallel in a fraction of the time required in today’s model. The second demonstration will show a model for real-time content security where Smooth Streaming content is individually watermarked, encrypted and then streamed in real-time via IIS in Azure. Cloud-based Content Collaboration Arvato’s ScreenerONE content collaboration service enables TV- and film production companies to share audio and video content across teams and sites during the production process. Digitized content is uploaded to the platform and can then be accessed from anywhere using a standard Web- Browser. Additional capabilities include content storage, metadata management, and staging content for multi- channel distribution. The service is based on the Microsoft cloud computing platform Windows Azure and is accessed through a cross-platform Silverlight-based client. Microsoft’s Multiscreen Continuous Client “Starter Kit” enables content providers to deliver an uninter-rupted and continuous media experience across multiple devices. With this solution, content providers can deliver functionality which allows users to play media on one device, such as a PC, PAUSE it, and later resume playback on the same device or on another, such as a Windows Phone 7. In addition, the solu-tion offers personalization and socialization features such as Bookmarks and Bookmark sharing. This solution can be easily deployed to Windows Azure, leveraging the cloud’s great elasticity, in your data center or to a third party data center.

Cloud based video delivery services

Level 3 Communications and Microsoft, in collaboration with MPS Broadband, Fox, and Sky, will be demonstrating advances in cloud-based video delivery services. This workflow will utilize Level 3 Vyvx cloud-based video acquisition for both live- and file-based video, and live encoding. It will also show cloud-based Microsoft Expression Encoder and publishing point control, content management, and video transcoding in the Windows Azure cloud. Finally, the demonstration will use Level 3 cloud-based CDN services, including live video transmuxing with IIS Media Services 4 (including conversion of IIS Smooth Streaming into Apple HLS) running on Windows Server, and CDN caching delivery.

Personalized video across all screens

Ooyala is personalizing video across all screens. See how our suite of connected video technologies and services make it easy for publishers to transcode, manage, deliver, analyze, syndicate, and monetize video. Ooyala will also show its SharePoint integration and how video can be delivered securely, with ads and paywalls, over Flash, Silverlight and HTML5.

Live video workflow tied to Azure CDN

iStreamPlanet is demoing their new Director 3.1 multi-platform Digital Asset Management. The demo shows ability to manage customer content throughout its entire life cycle from the ingest process through transforming, metadata management, securing, monetization, publishing, delivery and tracking and analyzing performance and usage across multi-platforms.

Additionally, iStreamPlanet is showing off their integrated live video workflow with the Azure CDN. This includes live IIS Smooth streaming of the Microsoft Mix Keynotes, 1080p live streaming, along with live streaming to the Windows Phone 7 and Live Apple HLS Streaming to iPhone and iPad.

White space OTT video via Xbox

ADAPTRUM

Under Special Temporary Authority from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, Microsoft Research and Adaptrum will be demonstrating fully interactive Xbox HD video streaming over these spectrum bands. The demonstration shows that heretofore unused spectrum below 700 MHz can be put to good use, while protecting incumbents, such as broadcasters, from interference. The demonstration uses a FCC rule-compliant white space system consisting of an Adaptrum base station unit, an Adaptrum client unit, and a channel list server running Microsoft TV white space database software.
