365 Days of Prayer

The High Priest By Dennis Hoyle

Hebrews 4: 14-16 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weak-nesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (NIV) One thing that every man, woman and child has in common - weakness. We were born weak, flawed. Our weakness makes our “right walk” in God vulnerable to temptation. Similarly, something else common to all mankind - failure. None of us, no matter how strong, has passed every test. We all have fallen to tempta-tion. But unlike the Old Testament Hebrews we don’t need to have someone else take our sacrifices before God in a request for forgiveness. We have our own personal high priest in Jesus Christ. Our high priest knows about our weakness. He knows the pull and draw of temptation. But he also served as an example of how He has already overcome temptation. Place the word in your heart. Nurture it. Make it comfortable. Feed it with acts of faith that are seeded into it. Overcome one temptation at a time. When we fail, Our High Priest walks with us to the throne of grace. Verse 16 assures us that God knows. We can approach Him boldly with the assurance of forgiveness and the free flow of God's mercy and grace to cover us when next we need to overcome. Get up, dust off, refix your focus, ask for forgiveness and move on. But move on. Be mindful of this - God only wants you guilty until you are ready to give that sin over to the Guiltless One who will cleanse you fully. Put your head up and come to God. Then march back into battle a stronger sol-dier. Focus verse: Hebrews 4: 16 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

Matthew 6:10—”Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven

Father, we request that Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven for the vision to construct the Morning Star Baptist Church Campus. We believe that You will make our thoughts agreeable to Your will, so that the plans for this vision may be established and successful. Your Word, Father, declares that for lack of advice, plans go wrong; but with many advisers there is success. Therefore, we confess that we will seek the counsel of the godly as we proceed with this project. We declare that we will write the vi-sion for this new project plainly so that those involved can run and carry the correct message to others. Fa-ther, we expect You to call forth competent and skilled laborers for this project, just as You called forth the artisans for the building of the tabernacle. We confess that they will be filled with the Spirit of wisdom, un-derstanding and knowledge in all manner of workmanship. We proclaim that all who are involved in the fulfillment of this vision will focus their attention and efforts so that they can successfully complete their as-signments and bring glory and honor to Your Name. Father, we are confident that the new facility will be completed, because You have begun this good work. Lord, I commit to praying without ceasing for this pro-ject. Father, please stir up the faith in me so that I will walk by faith and not by sight and give to this vision. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
