Maldivian, the national carrier, with 15 years of experience in the aviation and tourism indus-try, operates daily frequent flights to 9 airports within the country. In addition to daily flights to Trivandrum, the flag carrier added 2 more destinations to its regional network by com-mencing flights to Chennai - India and Dhaka - Bangladesh in 2012. In July 2013 Maldivian further expanded its network by starting flights to Chongqing, China. A second destination in China - Wuhan was added to the Maldivian’s network in July 2014. Three additional cities of China (Xi’an, Nanjing, Changsha) were added to the network effective February 2015. Mal-divian Seaplane is the newest venture, giving the clients an opportunity to explore the spec-tacular exquisiteness that Maldives has to of-fer. Seaplane operations commenced in July 2014. Besides widening its network, Maldivian believes in strengthening its competencies by pursuing new and high growth business segments and hence, Maldivian Holidays was formed.

Malé is the capital, the seat of government and the center of trade, commerce, business, health, education and also the larg-est city (in terms of population) in the Republic of Maldives. It is located at the southern edge of North Male’ Atoll (Kaafu Atoll).

Chongqing sits overlooking the Yangtze, ‘the Golden River’ which represents the Yangtze River civilizations and today consists of several nationalities of China. In the present day, Chongqing is the 4th largest city in China after Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.

Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province in the heart of China is one of the biggest metropolitans and one of the major commercial hubs in the country. Wuhan is located on Jianghan Plain, a river that intersects lush terrains formed by the Hanjiang River con-necting the Yangtze River.

Nanjing the southern capital city of China is a renowned histori-cal and cultural city that was the capital of several dynasties over the course of Chinese history. It has many historical sites includ-ing Ming tombs that are on the UNESCO world heritage list.

Xian formerly known as Sian is the capital of Shaanxi province located in the northwest of China. Xian is the first of four great ancient capitals of china with more than 3,000 years of history.

Changsha is located in the northeast part of Hunan. It is the cap-ital city of Hunan province. Changsha is known as one of Chi-na’s top tourist cities. Changsha is a regional hub for industrial, tourist, and service sectors.

Trivandrum now known as Thiruvananthapuram is the south-ern-most district found in the west coast of India close to the extreme south of the mainland. This city referred to by Mahatma Gandhi as the ‘Evergreen city of India’ is the district headquar-ters and the State capital of Kerala.

Chennai previously known as Madras is the capital in the south-ern state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the Coromandel Coast off the Bay of Bengal and this vivacious city functions as a key business, economical and cultural center in India.

Dhaka is the capital and the largest city of Bangladesh locat-ed on the banks of Buriganga River. At present day, Dhaka has evolved to a great city sheltering about 8.5 million in population and the city now is a hot spot for foreign investments and at-tracts huge volumes of commerce and trade.

Bangkok a city unique with its golden palaces, floating markets, majestic porcelain-laid spires is the largest city in Thailand and the capital and main port of the city. It is the cultural, educational, political and economical center of Thailand, as well as the only major metropolis. Thailand Holidays include visiting Pratunam or Siam Square for quality shopping.

Fuzhou, the capital of southeastern China’s Fujian province, is a sprawling industrial and transportation hub. The mountaintop Yushan Scenic Area features the restored 10th-century White Pa-goda. West Lake Park, dating to 282 A.D., is an urban green area with bridges and pavilions.

Managed and Operated by our Airport Division, Thimarafushi in Kolhumadulu Atoll, letter code Thaa is located in the south west of the country. The atoll is made up of 67 islands of which 13 are inhabited with a population of over 11,000 people.

Managed and Operated by our Airport Division, Ifuru in Northern Maalhosmadulu, Raa Atoll is just 35 miles in length and 15 miles across at its broadest part. Its western edge is made up of a chain of circular reefs placed sporadically - an odd charac- ter-istic found in the larger Northern Atolls.

Hanimaadhoo is one of the inhabited islands of Haa Dhaalu At-oll administrative division and geographically part of Thiladhum-mathi Atoll in the north of the Maldives. It is now an International airport of the Maldives, since the operations of flights from Hani-madhoo to Trivandrum on February 03, 2013. The Hanimaadhoo Meteorological Observatory is also located on this island.

Managed and Operated by our Airport Division, Dharavandhoo is one of the populated islands of Baa Atoll and is surrounded by clear waters known as ‘Dharavandhoo Thila’ and ‘Hanifaru Bay’. These waters provide a safe haven for marine life including Mantas and Whale Sharks.

Northern Huvadhu Atoll or Gaafu Alifu is an administrative divi-sion created on February 8, 1962 when Huvadhu Atoll was divid-ed into two districts. Gaafu Alifu corresponds to the northeastern section of this large natural atoll north of the line extending be-tween the channels of Footukandu and Vaarulu Kandu.

Kadhdhoo is the island of domestic airport in the administrative district of Haddhunmathi Atoll or Laamu Atoll. The administrative capital in this district is located in Funadhoo. It is mostly rimmed by barrier reefs, the broadest of which are topped by islands. There are many islands along its eastern and southern bound-aries.

Kaadedhdhoo is located in the administrative district Southern Huvadhu Atoll or Gaafu Dhaalu. The capital of this region is Thi-nadhoo. This district is located about 340 kilometres south of the capital Malé. Kaadedhdhoo is an uninhabited island where the domestic airport is located and was opened in 1993.

Gan, addU atoll

Gnaviyani Atoll is one of the administrative divisions of the Mal-dives corresponding to the natural atoll, Fuvahmulah. Surface wise this is the smallest administrative unit in the Maldives, situ-ated in the Equatorial Channel between Huvadhu Atoll and Addu Atoll.

Gan is the southernmost island of Addu Atoll, as well as the southernmost island of the Maldives. It is relatively large by Maldives standards. Gan Island was formerly inhabited, but its inhabitants were moved to neighboring islands after the British naval and airbase was built. It had been having continuous hu-man habitation since very ancient times.

Republic of the Maldives is a sovereign archipelagic nation positioned in the Indian Ocean. Notably the South Asian Island nation has no counterpart in the entire world in terms of its unique geography and topography.

The Maldives encompass more than 99 % of the sea and less than 1 % of the land. The 99 % of the sea is home to one of the most diverse marine treasures of the world. Less than 1 % of the land is a masterpiece in natural landscaping. The Maldives comprises of 26 natural atolls consisting of dual island chains. Inci-dentally the Maldivian language has the distinct pleasure of contributing to the Eng-lish word “atoll”, which was derived from the Maldivian word “atholhu”.

There are channels of various sizes between the atolls used for navigation. For ef-ficient administrative functioning, the 26 natural atolls are categorised into 20 ad-ministrative divisions. Particularly the island nation is located in a strategic area with access to major international sea routes in the Indian Ocean.

The Maldives, located on top of a vast underwater mountain range have around 1190 islands and sandbanks. The pearl string like islands covers a land area of no less than 298 km2. All the islands are encircled by a lagoon blessed with crystal clear water. These islands are protected by a reef structure, housing one of the most exclusive and spectacular underwater life.
