Get Active HolidaysAs Rockley approches its 40th anniversary we are delighted to introduce our new Get Active holidays. Set on the French owned campsite of AzuRivage in beautiful southwest France our family Get Active holidays focus on fun and relaxation for all.

Our Get Active holidays combine a fantastic selection of activities for both children and adults, whilst also leaving some much deserved downtime to either relax or explore the area further. Our holidays allow the whole family to enjoy the excitement of doing new activities together - a great bonding experience and great fun! Each family can choose from our inclusive activities to create their own holiday programme. There is no pressure to participate. You choose how much or how little you want to do. Parents may want to spend the day relaxing, reading a good book or visiting local attractions while we look after the children - it’s up to you. And with activities designed for all abilities, you don’t need to be an expert or super fit to enjoy them.

Our Get Active holidays are the ideal choice if you want freedom and flexibility; the essential ingredients for the perfect family holiday. For children, it’s all a great adventure, there is space to run around and there will be lots of new friends to meet. Simply enjoy the great outdoors, great food and great times - together!

WELCOME TO FRANCE

Our Get Active Holiday comprises 7 or 14 nights accommodation in our Rockley chalet tents, full board with meals prepared by our own catering team from fresh, local ingredients, 4 days of activities, including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and trail bike riding. We also offer 2- or 4-day RYA courses in sailing or windsurfing for a small supplement. Our holidays include bed linen and towels as well as free evening entertainments which will allow you to get to know your fellow families. Those who choose the 2-week option have free use of any available equipment during their second week or can participate in organised activity sessions.

AZURIVAGE


AzuRivageAzuRivage lies on the outskirts of the small town of Azur on the shores of Lac Soustons, in the Landes region of Aquitaine in south west France.

AzuRivage boasts a unique French ambience. Set in a beautiful wooded area just 40 metres from the lake’s edge, AzuRivage offers traditional camping with a friendly holiday atmosphere. There is a pool and small shop on site as well as a children’s play area and multi-sports pitch. A short walk to the lake edge is the perfect place to watch the sunset and unwind after an active day on the water. Simply AzuRivage is ideal for those wishing to get away from it all.

For the more energetic amongst you, the best way to explore the local area is by taking one of the many cycle tracks that lead directly from the centre or take to the trees and test your nerves at one of the local high ropes activity centres. A short 15 minute drive will take you to the small town of Vieux-Boucau. With its bars and restaurants, Vieux-Boucau is a great place to relax and enjoy a well deserved chilled drink! A bit further afield is the beautiful beach town of Hossegor. A real favourite amongst surfers, Hossegor offers a relaxed feel during the day which turns in to a lively holiday vibe by night.

Staying at AzuRivageIf your idea of a great family holiday is to get away from it all and escape the routine, then look no further than Rockley and our Get Active holiday.

ROCKLEY WATERSPORTS CHALET TENTSOur Get Active Holiday accommodation is provided in our own chalet-style tents. The Rockley chalet tents have three separate sleeping compartments for up to six people. Each tent has proper sprung beds, full electric lighting and power points. A table, parasol and chairs are provided for you to relax and enjoy the fresh air under the pine trees. On arrival, you’ll find a ‘welcome pack’ including a bottle of wine and some beer (chilled of course) along with some essentials: milk, tea, bread, preserve, coffee and a bottle of water - enough to keep you going until your first visit to one of the local supermarkets or your first meal with us!

If you’ve never been camping before you’ll be amazed how easy and enjoyable it is! Camping allows you to come and go as you please, creating your very own holiday. AzuRivage has all the facilities to make your stay relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable. Of course, if your ideal holiday includes a quiet spot, a good book and a glass of something chilled then camping does that best too.

AL FRESCO DINING Our Get Active holidays are all about you enjoying your time on the water with your family and new-found friends, which is why we take care of everything else including all your meals!

Our chef and catering team offer meals using fresh locally sourced ingredients for you to enjoy after your activities. With buffet style lunches which cater for all tastes and appetites and a two course evening meal including a bottle of beer, glass of wine or soft drink, you can enjoy the relaxed environment of a Rockley holiday and share tales of the day with your friends and family.

LINENA linen pack is provided as part of your holiday. This will comprise a duvet, a duvet cover, a pillow and pillow case, a bed sheet and a bath towel for each person in your family.

SailingWhether beginner or expert, parent or child, you’ll enjoy nothing more than a day out on the water. Our range of sessions and clinics are held throughout the week and are lead by our team of qualified instructors who are passionate about sailing. They will be on hand to show you the ropes and ensure you make the most of your time on the water. Each session is tailored to ensure every sailor achieves the maximum possible from their time on the water and focuses on how to carry on improving whilst free sailing. Our activity sessions are split by age and ability however families can sail together if you wish.

With clinics covering a number of differing techniques we aim to use a variety of boats over the course of the week to ensure the best combination of skills training. With sessions and clinics focusing on a different topics, you can pick and choose your clinic sessions to build your own week of sailing activities. Simply book your sessions at our Welcome Evening on your day of arrival.

Stand Up Paddleboarding & KayakingTake to the waters and explore the beautiful lake at Soustons on a paddleboard or kayak. Go solo or team up with your partner or your children. With both these activities included in your holiday, you can enjoy being out on the water whilst at the same time receiving a whole core body work out.

Stand Up Paddleboarding is a great alternative to sailing and a fantastic way to spend a few hours out on the water! Our Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs) are easily launched from the beach and are super easy to use - you’ll be SUPing round the lake in no time!

Kayaking from our beach at AzuRivage couldn’t be easier. The beauty of this sport is that you don’t need to have any experience at all. Partner up with someone to really enjoy your time out on the water. And with plenty to see, you won’t even realise what a great workout you’re having! Windsurfing

So whether you are just starting out or looking to really perfect your skills, our seasoned expert windsurf trainers will ensure you make the most of your time out on the water!

BEGINNERS - Our centre is ideally located to offer beginner sessions for children (9+) to adults. The water is shallow and of course when you fall in, the water is lovely and warm! Teaching sessions include simulator work on land and plenty of on-water coaching to ensure your skills and confidence develop quickly!

IMPROVERS - With our ideal conditions, it won’t be long before you are developing your windsurfing techniques with our instructors providing you with teaching tips and encouragement to introduce you to the footstraps and harness techniques, which will see you racing across the lake, turning round and coming back again!

Trail BikingIncluded in your Get Active holiday, why not take to the road and many off road paths and explore the beautiful surrounds of AzuRivage and Soustons on two wheels.

Our mountain bikes which are FREE to use throughout your holiday are continually maintained by our qualified mountain bike leaders. Our bikes are available in various sizes and are suitable for youngsters aged from 11 years upwards, however anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. So once you are armed with a water bottle and one of our helmets, you are free to explore the area at your leisure.

GUIDED TOURSWhy not join one of our guided tours where you will get the chance to discover some fantastic trails and superb local cafes. Our cycling expert will ensure you see the best of what Soustons has to offer while you benefit from a great work out. All we need from you is a bit of enthusiasm!

From your first tentative steps to the sheer exhilaration of blasting along in the footstraps and harness there are few sports more addictive than windsurfing. With a quality range of beginner and improver equipment and warm water, there can’t be many better places to develop your skills. Our windsurfing clinics are held throughout the week are are arranged according to abilities and age.

Perfect for all the FamilyWe’re not quite sure who has the most fun on our Get Active holidays! Whether you are the parents, youngster or teenager, we know your expectations are different so we make sure that every family member is looked after!

NIPPERS (3-5 YEARS) - We offer a great activity programme for the younger children in the family. Under the watchful eye of our instructors, they will experience time on the water as well as land-based activities to keep them entertained in a fun way while you enjoy your activities.

JUNIORS (6-8 YEARS) - Youngsters aged between 6 and 8 will get the chance to to get out on the water and mess around on the kayaks, stand up paddleboards and dinghies and basically have loads of fun. Not only will your children have a fantastic time making new friends, they will also gain the water confidence to prepare them for their future activities on the water.

YOUTHS (9-12 YEARS) - Older children get to try as many activities as they can such as kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and sailing with the fun continuing on into the evenings!

TEENAGERS (13-19 YEARS) - Our Get Active holidays offer a great balance of family time together as well as giving your teenagers time away from their parents to spend with their fellow peers! Our variety of evening events held throughout the week are designed to keep your teenagers entertained during their stay. Our holidays are a great place to make new friends and lasting memories!

Fun off the water!During your time off the water we aim to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible, which is why our varied programme of social events is guaranteed to keep everyone entertained.

Our social events are the perfect opportunity to catch up with other families and to discuss your respective days on and in the water!

Our arrival evening ’Welcome Drinks‘ gives you a chance to meet your instructors and fellow Get Active families and is a good opportunity to ask any questions you may have. After a day or two you can enjoy our ’Boules‘ evening where you can choose

to pit your family team against all comers or split up and take on the kids! Towards the end of the week we host a family themed evening ending with a lively prize giving ceremony. Parents and children also get an evening off from each other with our activity evenings for the youngsters. While we take good care of them, you can relax with a glass of wine!

There is a small supplement for anyone wanting to upgrade to a 2 or 4-day RYA course. On Wednesdays we offer a FREE SAIL day - we’ll give you a break from our clinics and courses and you get the chance to use the equipment at your leisure subject to availability.

Passport and Health You are required to have a full 10-year (<16yrs full 5 year) passport in order to visit France and non-EU passport holders may require visas. Lost, stolen or new passports will take a minimum of 2 weeks to replace. It is your responsibility to have the correct documentation for travel. www.passport.gov.ukInformation regarding health matters can be obtained from the Department of Health Leaflet – “Health Advice for Travellers” (T5) which is available from Post Office Counters, Travel Agents or the Department of Health. You must ensure you have adequate health insurance for travel. We recommend that you have an EHIC – European Health Insurance Card. Apply online at www.eu-healthcard.com

CurrencyWe recommend that you carry a small amount of Euros for when you arrive. Most major credit and debit cards are widely accepted in France.

Special Requests All special requests should be clearly noted at the time of booking. We will make every effort to comply with all special requests although they may be subject to availability. We need to know about any medication that you are taking or physical disabilities that you may have.

Students (<18yrs)For students under 18 years of age we are authorised to act for the child according to our best judgement in any emergency situation requiring medical attention and to act in the place of the parents in an accident or other situation demanding an immediate decision.

Arrival and Departure Our Rockley Chalet Tents are available from 1600 on the Sunday of your arrival. Please aim to arrive at the campsite between 1600 and 1900 - a member of our team will meet you. On arrival you will need to go to the campsite reception and obtain a barrier code. The campsite barriers are locked at 2300 - if you arrive after 2300, you will have to leave your car outside. You are requested to vacate your accommodation by 1000 on your day of departure.

Extra Charges A 2 or 4-RYA sailing or windsurfing courses are available for a supplement of £100pp or £150pp respectively.

Facilities We try to be as accurate as possible with regards to the availability and opening times of the facilities available on the campsite. However, due to circumstances beyond our control i.e. weather, time of year, local regulations or demand, some facilities may not be available.

Campsite Rules We ask that all our customers comply with the rules set out by AzuRivage for the enjoyment of all our customers and other users of the campsite and its facilities.

Entertainment & Other Sporting ActivitiesAzuRivage organises its own evening entertainment programmes throughout the high season, such as cabaret performances, which is generally open until late. Daytime programmes including sporting activities can be booked at the campsite reception.

Local Activities There are numerous restaurants situated in the smaller and larger nearby towns and villages that will allow you to sample the local french cuisine as well as discovering some beautiful places to visit and explore. For advice and recommendations, please ask any of the Rockley Watersports staff. We also recommend that you visit any of the local or regional festivals or events.

Accommodation Our Rockley Chalet Tent accommodation sleeps up to 6 people. The tents are fully equipped, including a Welcome Pack and tea and coffee making facilities. Each Rockley Chalet tent has electric lighting and a socket which requires a two-pin converter plug.

Bedding and LinenLinen packs are included in your Get Active holiday and comprises a duvet, a duvet cover, a pillow and pillow case, a bed sheet and a bath towel.

Barbecues AzuRivage has a designated barbecue island for you to use if you wish to have a BBQ.

What to Wear Buoyancy aids are provided. We advise that you bring plenty of changes of clothing, as sailing can be a very wet sport! If you own any sailing gear we recommend that you bring that with you, otherwise we suggest you bring shorts and tee shirts as well as suitable footwear i.e. old trainers or wetsuit shoes. Sun protection is essential. A packing list can be found on our website: www.rockley.org and in our Final Holiday Pack.

First Aid Our centre has first aid boxes. All our main safety boats carry a first aid kit and radio. All our instructors hold a valid First Aid certificate and attend a health and safety induction when joining the Company.

TRAVEL INFOOur Get Active holidays are self-drive which allows you to make a holiday of your journey through France, giving you the freedom to explore. Below are a list of travel options to get to AzuRivage.

A popular alternative is the fly-drive option. The nearest airports to AzuRivage are Biarritz (approx 1 hour) or Bordeaux (approx 2 hours).
