We take a look at the innovative car concepts that were on display at the recently concluded week- long mega auto show... Clarke 03 HOTTEST CONCEPT MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA HYUNDAI TATA MOTORS Haval Vision 2025: Pure electric SUV Concept Vision 2025 is Haval’s vision for its smart, capable, intelligent vehicle for 2025. The concept offers next-generation 5G in-car infotainment and services and it has automated parking and advanced autonomous driving modes. Volocopter: At the Auto Expo 2020, the luxury carmaker displayed an electric Urban Air Mobility (UAM) VoloCity 1:3 scale model. Volocopter is based on eVTOLs, which translates into Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft with an elec- tric powertrain. Futuro E: It is available in a wide array of powertrain options like hybrid and pure EV. Concept Futuro-e demonstrates Maruti Suzuki’s perspective on re-imag- ining future green mobility that will drive future’s transport. Kia Sonet: It has Kia’s signature ‘tiger-nose’ grille, stepwell geome- try within the grille mesh, ‘Tiger- Eyeline’ daytime running lights and wide rear signature lighting. SKODA Vision IN: Coming on the first day of the expo this is the future that will drive sales of the Czech carmaker in India, the Czech automaker Skoda unveiled its mid-size SUV concept Vision IN based on the Volkswagen MQB AO-IN platform. The design lan- guage is somewhat similar to that of Kodiaq including the typical grille which now gets vertical slats. The Vision IN is powered by a petrol engine. Set to be launched by early 2021, it will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. MARUTI SUZUKI KIA MOTORS HYUNDAI What are concept cars? Automakers use concept cars to highlight new features or ideas they would like to implement into future vehi- cles. Concept cars are sometimes put into production, but not always. Part of the concept car process is seeing if there is a demand for the vehicle. If the concept is received well, it’s possible the vehicle will go into pro- duction for future lineups. Symbioz: French carmaker Renault unveiled its Symbioz con- cept featuring an all- electric drivetrain, with level four autonomous capabilities. The concept comes with rear-wheel configuration, with two electric motors located on the rear axle, and the batteries housed beneath the floor. RENAULT GREAT WALL MOTORS Haval Concept H: China’s largest SUV manufacturer, Great Wall Motors made a global preview of its plug-in hybrid SUV concept Haval H at the Auto Expo 2020. This design of this car is sporty targeting young consumers. Sierra EV Concept: Based on Tata’s ALFA Arc platform, fully electric Sierra is an attempt to revive the iconic Sierra brand name. The concept features curved rear windows that wrap around all the way up to the roof to create a glass house just like old sierra. Funster: M&M unveiled its roadster concept in a convertible mode. Funster, a sports electric vehicle comes with its dual electric motors and is equipped with a high end 59.1 kWh battery. It offers a range of 520 km in a single charge. The front end, floating tail lamps, sports-shoe inspired wheel arches and interiors reflect a sporty lifestyle. Kite: The Hyundai Kite is a doorless, roofless and windowless vehicle that can drive both on streets and over water. It consists of a monocoque chassis and is equipped with electric propulsion, with four brushless engines placed inside the wheels and a water jet turbine for travelling on water.
