known as “Green Out
Friday”. Students, staff,
and all fans alike will
wear green to create a
“sea of green” on our
side.
In addition to this
new tradition is Pink Fri-
day. Students and staff
will wear pink during the
school day.
This Friday game
is one not to be missed.
All of the editors hope to
see you there.
Think pink, wear green.
The Cotton Bowl
is here! For those foot-
ball fans the day can’t
come soon enough.
Each year generations
of bulldog fans come
from all across Texas
to see their favorite
high school football
team play their rivals.
The Cotton
Bowl is thought by some
fans to rival Homecom-
ing as far as turnout and
fan spirit. All students
and fans alike dress
head-to-toe in their bull-
dog best.
For years, the
rivalry between the Ray-
mondville Bearkats and
our very own Lyford Bull-
dogs
has
played
out and
been
person-
alized
with this important
game.
This year, the
bulldog fans will be add-
ing a new tradition to the
Lyford’s Cotton Bowl.
This new tradition is

It is a known fact that the Sen-
iors will be visiting the University
of Texas at Brownsville. It is a less
known fact that UTB grounds has
a history older than the Civil War.
Fort Brown in Brownsville– Built
on the banks of the Rio Grande in
the early 1800s, Fort Brown has a
haunted history. It is currently
known as the home of UTB and
Texas Southmost College. There
have been reports of apparitions,
footsteps, doorknobs turning and
strange sounds from many build-
ings on campus.
The Gorgas Administration
Building, named for Dr. William
Gorgas, who worked on finding a
cure for yellow fever, was once
the military hospital in Fort Brown.
Reportedly there were thousands
of bodies buried on the grounds
during an outbreak, but the bod-
ies have since been moved to a
national cemetery in Louisiana.
La Lomita Chapel in Mission–
nuns and priests from over a
century ago had been known to
shun their pledges of celibacy.
The children conceived were
either hidden, abandoned, or
more often killed to hide the
wrongdoings of their parents.
It is said that the ghosts of
priests and nuns walk around
the grounds at night. There is
also a rumor of the apparition of
a nun praying at daylight.

In what was once the
morgue for Fort Brown, staff
and visitors said they have
experienced a presence. Both
have witnessed floating objects
and seen appliances turn
themselves on.
Other buildings on campus
are presumed haunted as well,
including the guardhouse and
library.
Happy Haunting
Wing of bat and eye of newt,
Spirits on their trumpets toot.
Werewolves prowl when the moon is full,
Ghostly beings their chains do pull.
All Hallows Eve draws ever near,
So now for the news that you must hear.

Throughout the day we have
postures we go through. The
question is: which body pos-
tures are the good ones and
which one of the body pos-
tures are the bad ones? And
why do we fall into these
postures? Now, take for ex-
ample having your hands on
across your chest. It's a sim-
ple enough posture that re-
quires no real work. Here is
the interesting part. Some
of you may fall into this pos-
ture quite often without even
realizing it.
The posture of crossed
hands over your chest signi-
fies worry. In this posture
you loose credibility, which means
you are less likely to retain infor-
mation than when you don't have
your arms crossed. It also signifies
defensive and reflects a nervous
attitude. This posture is like a bar-
rier between you and another per-
son. Another example of a bad pos-
ture is when you put your hands on
your hips. You're being aggressive
in this posture not to people but
just signifying aggressiveness in
general.
Now, sitting with your legs crossed
and foot kicking slightly is a sign of
boredom. When you're sitting with
your legs open means you’re open
and relaxed.
In death around thee-and their
will
Shall then overshadow thee: be
still.
For the night-tho’ clear-shall
frown-
And the stars shall look not
down,
From their high thrones in the
Heaven,
With light like Hope to mortals
given-
But their red orbs, without
Thy soul shall find itself
alone
‘Mid dark thoughts of the
grey tomb-stone-
Not one, of all the crowd,
to pry
Into thine hour of secrecy:
Be silent in that solitude
Which is not loneliness-for
then
The spirits of the dead who
stood
In life before thee are again
beam,
To thy weariness shall
seem
As a burning and a fever
Which would cling to thee
for ever:
Now are thoughts thou
shalt not banish-
Now are visions ne’er to
vanish-
From thy spirit shall they

Another posture is rubbing your
eye. This means you are in
doubt and also signifies disbe-
lief.
We perform many pos-
tures during the day that we
don't think much about them.
We have no true control over our
situation or what we feel. So
next time, when you have your
hands on your hips maybe you'll
be able to reflect about what
you are reflecting to other peo-
ple.

No more –like dew-drop
from the grass:
The breeze-the breath of
God– is still-
And the mist upon the hill
Shadowy-shadowy-yet un-
broken,
Is a symbol and a token-
How it hangs upon the trees,
A mystery of mysteries!-
