The dates for the Baptism of children and for the Pre-Baptismal instruction of parents should be arranged in the rectory ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE. In addition to English, and Spanish this Sacrament may also be in Italian.

•WEDDINGS/ MATRIMONIO Pre–marital instruction is a requirement for all engaged couples. Consequently, arrangements for weddings should be made SIX MONTHS in advance.

SEDICESIMA DOMENICA DEL TEMPO ORDINARIO 17 DI LUGLIO , 2016

“Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Martha burdened with much serving, came to him and said. ‘Lord do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.” A mark of many religious communities is the gift of hospitality. Like Abraham, and the family of

Bethany, being a host was something special. In both cases, the guests were truly special. The conversations became more telling than the visit itself. Perhaps the anxiety of receiving the Lord made Martha nervous. Surely she wanted things to be nice for the Lord and needed Mary’s help. As she complained, Jesus responded, praising the importance of Mary’s role as listener. How well do I listen to the needs of others. Someone might be hurting and they need to vent. Someone might be overjoyed at some good news, and by sharing it they double it. Hospitality, the gift of receiving others with their hopes and hurts, with their joys and sorrows, with their wants and needs, enables others to find the Lord Himself. It is a gift that costs little, but has great rewards.

“Jesús entró en un pueblo, y una mujer que se llamaba Marta lo recibió en su casa. Tenía una hermana llamada María, que sentada a los pies del Señor, escuchaba su Palabra. Marta, que muy estaba muy ocupada con los quehaceres de la casa, dijo a Jesús: ‘Señor, ¿no te importa que mi hermana me deje sola con todo el trabajo? Dile que me ayude.’” Una señal en muchas comunidades religiosas es el don de la hospitalidad. Como Abraham y la familia de Betania, el ser anfitrión era algo especial. En ambos casos los invitados eran verdaderamente especiales. Las conversaciones se convirtieron en más reveladoras que la visita misma. Quizá la ansiedad de recibir al Señor puso nerviosa a Marta. Seguramente ella quería que todo estuviera bien para el Señor y necesitaba la ayuda de María. Cuando ella se quejó, Jesús le respondió alabando la importancia de escuchar como lo hacía María. ¿Qué tan bien escucho las necesidades de otros? Alguien puede tener penas y necesita desahogarse. Alguien puede estar feliz por buenas noticias, y al compartirlas multiplica su felicidad. La hospitalidad, el don de recibir a otros con sus esperanzas y penas, con sus felicidades y tristezas, con sus deseos y necesidades, permite a otros encontrar al Señor mismo. Es un don que cuesta poco pero que tiene grandes recompensas.

“I testi biblici che ci riportano il messaggio di questa domenica (la prima lettura e il Vangelo) ci insegnano che il Dio della Trinità ama recarsi di tanto in tanto dagli uomini, perché la sua presenza è un onore e una benedizione”. Al tempo dei patriarchi, si reca da Abramo e promette un figlio a Sara che non ne ha ancora. Gesù, da parte sua, esalta due donne nubili, Maria e Marta, onorandole della sua visita e della sua parola. Il racconto di questa visita ci mostra che si deve manifestare a Gesù

un vero rispetto. Il Dio della Trinità oggi continua a recarsi presso gli uomini. Questo noi la chiamiamo visita. Spesso, ci rendiamo conto della venuta di Dio solo dopo la sua visita. In questo giorno, il nostro Signore e Salvatore ci invita a recarci da lui. Egli è il sacerdote, l’annunciatore e l’ospite di questa festa liturgica. Gioiamo di questo onore, ascoltiamo la sua parola con attenzione e festeggiamo con lui la comunione di oggi con atteggiamento di venerazione. Ma soprattutto prendiamo a cuore quello che lui ci dice: è colui che si impregna della sua parola e vive secondo essa che gli manifesta il più grande rispetto.

Once a month on Sunday One Sunday in Spanish after the 12:30pm Mass

and One Sunday in English at 2:00PM.

THE NEXT AVAILABLE DATES ARE: September 18th— English Baptisms

September 25th — Spanish Baptisms

Please come to the Parish office at least one month in advance before planning your child’s baptism.

Registration for the year 2016 -2017 will be OPEN during the month of JULY

from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Parish Rectory.
