Early Years Program Celebrates 30 Years
The Early Years Program is celebrating 30 Years of serving children and families in the Jacksonville School District.
The Early Years Program began in 1986 with 1 classroom at Lafayette School, 2 teachers and a teacher's aide. There were 15 students the first year. Today the program has grown to serve 180 students in 7 classrooms at three different sites - Walnut Court and VAS, Murrayville United Methodist Church, and School District #117 Central Office building. A Birth to 3 program has also been added to Early Years to provide services for families with younger children.
Please call 217-243-2876 to find out more information on how to enroll your child.
Emergency Snow Routes
Bad weather or poor road conditions may cause the use of snow routes. A public announcement shall be made by School District 117. When snow routes are announced they are used all day or on both AM and PM routes. Parents need to be at the stops to pick up their children in the afternoon, as drivers are instructed not to let children off the bus unless they live close by, or unless someone is waiting to pick them up. Students will ride their regular AM & PM bus. Click here to view the 2016-2017 Emergency Snow Routes.
