Children’s Day
The Children’s Day celebration this year was absolutely stellar. Seeing our dear Acharyas take time out
of their busy schedules, to put together a program for us, was truly touching. From the beginning to the
very end, there wasn’t one program that didn’t end with a huge thunder of applause. The program
started with a soothing music medley by the Acharyas, followed by a beautifully composed
Bharatanatyam dance performance. We laughed a lot when we were shown a very relatable collection
of memes, and this was followed by mimicry performances of our favorite movie stars. Our Acharyas
even dressed up in costumes and enacted a skit for us. Just when we thought the program couldn’t have
been better, our Sirs got onto the stage with an energetic and amazingly choreographed dance, which
got all of us on our feet to cheer for them. Overall, it was a wonderful day, and personally for us 12th
graders, this was such an amazing memory to cherish in our last year of schooling. Thank you so much
Acharyas!

Celebrations and Festivities
November saw the halls of Hari Shree Vidyalayam reverberate once again with the palpable
excitement of their annual cultural bonanza - UTSAV. Interactive sessions were conducted by
eminent personalities who shared their knowledge on various aspects of Indian culture. Thought
provoking seminars and workshops were conducted through age appropriate mediums which
presented the children with opportunities to get a better understanding of a culture that surrounds
them every day. The class-wise themes for this year’s Utsav ranged from Festivals, Traditional
Games to Indian folktales and Classical Music & Dance.
Children from Grades II to V were encouraged to transform their classrooms into culturally rich
museums with exhibitions, informative write-ups and display of musical instruments. Reflections
were an integral part of the experience where the children were encouraged to record their
observations and understanding of each of the sessions that they participated in. The conclusion
of Utsav left the children and teachers of Hari Shree Vidyalayam with a confidence that next year
will come soon enough to take a deeper plunge into India’s rich cultural heritage.
UTSAV - Primary
Math Day celebration in Hari Shree campus was numero uno! The middle school students took part
in the Inter House Math Day competitions. This included a very novel presentation of mathematical
concepts inherent in music and dance. Students from each house choreographed dance routines and
demonstrated musical tala or beats that brought out the relationship between art and
arithmetic.

Middle School Kamba Ramayana Bus Visit
Middle school students had the unique opportunity to get insights into Ramayana in an unusual way.
A bus was stationed at Hari Shree campus, brought in by the youth wing of Chaitanya Mission.
Students visited the bus and got a better understanding of lesser known facts about Ramayana.
The students of grade IX journeyed to Vishakapatnam for their outbound trip. The trip taught them
to come out from their comfort zone. Adventure activities like burma bridge and zip lining were a
source of great deal of fun and nervous excitement. They visited most of the city's main attractions.
Also on the agenda were visits to a Tribal Museum, Bora Caves and the Submarine
Museum. During their visit to Kailasgiri they witnessed the magnificent statues of Shiva and
Parvati. They trekked 1000 steps to the Simhachalam Temple to see a unique and beautiful
sculpture of Narasimha. After testing their endurance, the trek offered a splendid view.
On the whole, the school trip was a fun-filled and memorable experience, with many
feeling nostalgic at the end of it.

Beyond the Classroom
Adventures for the Adventurous
On November 1st, a few 8th grade students from HLC, Perungudi, visited Hari Shree to learn
more about art as a core subject in school and how one can pursue art in the future, both in
college and as a career option. Hari Shree students spoke about the different papers offered in
school, different tips and tricks, as well as the variety of mediums and techniques. They were also
shown our students’ art work and exchanged some encouraging notes. It was a great experience to
share and exchange about something that both groups were very passionate about.

GC- I Care
For the past 3 years, I have been diligently segregating waste
generated at my home as reusable and biodegradable. The wet
waste is used for composting. The segregation of waste has made me
more conscious about not using plastics and paper to such an extent
that I carry my own containers to collect take away from
restaurants. I carry 20 litres of water while travelling. I stopped
using plastic of any kind during festivals like Navarathri. I also
keep sharing ideas about how we can go green to save the
environment. This gives me immense satisfaction that I am
doing my part for Mother Earth.
- Ms Sivakamasundari, Math Department
India has witnessed more than 9000 deaths and 15000 injuries due to pothole accidents over the
past three years. In an attempt to reduce these tragedies, we have started a campaign through the
Solve Ninja app, urging the Government of India to repair roads and close manholes.

Global Citizenship
The I Care theme of Food and Well Being for the 4th graders, was internalized through role play,
poster making in groups and penning poems.
The parent Funfest proceeds were gifted to our school as the Solver Space and children find it
immensely helpful. The Solver Space was inaugurated on 8th November by handing over the keys of
the space by parents to the Student Council. The space aims to encourage students to dream, build
and execute solutions to real-world problems. To that end, it is well-equipped with Solve Ninja Tool
kits and other materials that students can use to create hands-on solutions. Merely days after its
inauguration, the space is abuzz with pupils of all grades exploring ideas and projects to solve many
issues they face on a day to day basis. On behalf of the student council, we would like to thank all
those who made this dream possible.

Survey on food wastage
Grade 6 is engaged in collecting data through a survey to ascertain the level of food wastage in
the school. They are working on the Sustainable Development Goal, ‘Zero Hunger’
The Grade 12 Students culminated their GC for the year by doing various hands-on activities based
on their theme Affordable and Clean Energy. A group of students indigenously built a biogas plant in
our group school, Raja Muthiah Boys School. Another group worked on making prototypes for solar
lamps as an alternate for lamps around the school. They also prepared a proposal stating the long
term advantages of using solar energy to be presented to the school management. The Behavioural
Nudges group made posters and mobiles to be hung in the classrooms as reminders to turn off lights
and fans. Based on the energy audit done by the students earlier in the year, they made an impactful
video on saving electricity and also presented the data collected during the school assembly. Overall
it was a great learning experience for the students.

The Girl and the Farm Animals
Once there was a girl. She was playing in her garden with her dog. Her name was Rani. She
loved playing with her dog. One day she and her family had to move into the farm till they
finished building their house. Rani packed her things and started the journey to the farm. When
they reached the farm they saw so many animals like horses, cows, goats, pigs, chicken and
hen. She jumped out of joy. Her eyes were watering and her mouth was wide open and she kept
jumping and she ran into the farm. There she saw a pig rolling in the mud… hohoho! Then she
saw a goat and a horse. She wanted to ride on it. The farmer and her mom said okay. Rani
rode on it. After that they slept and next day morning Rani got dressed up thinking she could
go back home. But her mom said they would never go home and they would stay in the farm.
The following day she forgot about it and settled in her new home happily.

Nature
I was glad to have decided on a break from this fast paced world to spend some time amidst
nature. So here I was, standing in the middle of a forest, smiling to myself at the gorgeous view
that stood before me. Ahead lay a narrow path winding its way through the tall trees. A bed of
grass carpeted the pathway as jewel like flowers stood embedded on it. The path was protected by
canopies on either sides, that stood like strong sentinels, guarding the endless royal path. This
snaky passage was blessed by beams of sun rays that somehow penetrated through the thick
blanket of leaves cowering high up above the ground. Cool breeze made those leaves rustle and
whisper the language of the wild. As if in response, dry leaves beneath my feet crunched as I
placed a foot forward to resume my journey. I could smell the sweet fragrance of flowers wafting
with the gentle breeze, spreading bliss all across. As I walked further, I began hearing birds
chirping. I looked up at the trees to find a huge flock of birds chattering. It was wonderful
watching them busily discuss something.
I walked further, brushing leaves out of the way, pushing branches away. In the process, I had a
few scratches on my arms, but it didn’t matter because I was amidst heaven. This gave me utter
joy; just being here amidst plush greenery. I closed my eyes and breathed in the scent of the moist
soil, just as I felt a cold drop of water splatter on my cheek. I felt another. And one more. It slowly
trickled down my cheek, to my neck, and disappeared in my clothing. I smiled. I smiled thinking
about how unlucky humans had to be, to be living in garbage, right in the heart of a city, when
something so beautiful awaited creatures and gave them shelter. I smiled at how lucky I was to
have embarked on this journey. I smiled at how nature extended its arms, warmly welcoming new
visitors from the cities. My thoughts were disrupted by few more splatters of rain drops. I walked
a little further, shielding my eyes from the light drizzle, brushing away leaves from my wet face.
Once the rain started getting heavy, I retraced my steps, back past lush green shrubs, watching
birds fly back to their nests too. I half jogged to my car, seated myself and drove back after taking
in one fulfilling glance at this beauty- nature.
