PROBATIONARY DEPUTY S2/7/12HERIFF
$21.54/HOUR
Missoula County is conducting a recruitment to qualify applicants for consideration for Probationary Deputy
Sheriff positions. Initial assignment is to patrol division.
To qualify, an applicant must meet following statutory requirements:
a. be a citizen of the United States;b. be at least 18 years of age;c. be a graduate of an accredited high school or the equivalent;d. never have been convicted of a felony;e. be fingerprinted and a search made of appropriate files to disclose any criminal record;f. not have been affiliated in any manner with a subversive organization within 5 years;g. within 30 days immediately preceding his/her date of employment have been examined by a physician
licensed to practice in the State of Montana and have been pronounced in good physical condition (thisexamination is provided by the County);
h. be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation;i. have successfully completed an oral interview in which the characteristics necessary to a peace officer are
demonstrated; j. possess or be eligible for a valid Montana driver's license.
Due to occupational requirements, applicants must agree to and successfully pass a driving record review andcriminal history check to qualify for consideration. Successful applicants must have/be able to obtain Montanadriver's license and must have safe driving record. Applicants must pass an extensive background investigationand, upon offer of employment, a medical fitness for duty examination, including drug screening and hearingand vision exams, provided at County’s expense. Female and minority candidates are strongly encouraged toapply. Applicants may submit request in writing for any accommodation needed to participate in application andselection process and to perform essential duties of position. Missoula County will consider any reasonable

WRITTEN AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES TESTING WILL BE CONDUCTED IN MISSOULA, MT. TENTATIVEDATES FOR THIS TESTING ARE 2/23/2012 AND 2/25/2012. QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTEDAFTER 2/16/2012 FOR SCHEDULING.

Results of Montana Job Service Basic Arithmetic, Basic Reading Comprehension and Office Grammar and Spelling ”Prove It” tests, current within 6 months.
