PROBATIONARY DEPUTY S2/7/12HERIFF $21.54/HOUR Missoula County is conducting a recruitment to qualify applicants for consideration for Probationary Deputy Sheriff positions. Initial assignment is to patrol division. To qualify, an applicant must meet following statutory requirements: a. be a citi zen o f the Unite d Sta tes; b. be at least 1 8 years of a ge; c. be a grad uate of an accredite d high sc hoo l or the equ ival ent ; d. never have been convic ted of a felo ny; e. be fing erprinted and a search ma de of appropria te files to disclose any crimin al record; f. not have b een a ffiliated in an y man ner with a subversiv e orga nization within 5 yea rs; g. within 30 d ays immedi ately prece ding his/h er date of e mployme nt have be en examin ed by a phy sician licensed to practice in the State of Montana and have been pronounced in good physical condition (this examination is provided by the County); h. be of g ood mor al charac ter as de termined by a tho rough ba ckground investiga tion; i. have s uccessfu lly compl eted an oral interview in whic h the characteristics n ecessary to a peace officer are demonstrated;  j. pos sess or b e el igib le fo r a v alid Mon tan a dri ver' s li cense. Due to occupational requirements, applicants must agree to and successfully pass a driving record review and criminal history check to qualify for consideration. Successful applicants must have/be able to obtain Montana driver's license and must have safe driving record. Applicants must pass an extensive background investigation and, upon offer of employment, a medical fitness for duty examination, including drug screening and hearing and vision exams, provided at County’s expense. Female and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. To qualify, an applicant must meet following statutory requirements:

a. be a citizen of the United States;b. be at least 18 years of age;c. be a graduate of an accredited high school or the equivalent;d. never have been convicted of a felony;e. be fingerprinted and a search made of appropriate files to disclose any criminal record;f. not have been affiliated in any manner with a subversive organization within 5 years;g. within 30 days immediately preceding his/her date of employment have been examined by a physician

licensed to practice in the State of Montana and have been pronounced in good physical condition (thisexamination is provided by the County);

h. be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation;i. have successfully completed an oral interview in which the characteristics necessary to a peace officer are

demonstrated; j. possess or be eligible for a valid Montana driver's license.
