The CC is the world’s largest hosp ital entirely dedicated to clinical research that provides compassionate patient care and unparalleled opportunities for advancing translational clinical researc h, a key component of the Intramural Research Progr am (IRP) portfolio. The Chief of BTRIS is a tenure- track or tenure-eligible position in the NIH CC. The incumbent will report to the Director, NIH CC, and will work in partnership with the NIH CC Chief Information Officer. The incumbent will serve as the visionary for the Biomedical Translational Research Information System, an NIH-wide resource supporting clinical research studies across the IRP a nd the interface between the IRP and extramural investigators. For an appropriate candidate, the incumbent will also have an opportunity to serve as the leader of the Laboratory of Informatics Development and, as such, be able to hold a dual appointment within the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Research resources include support for four NLM fellows seeking a clinical informatics post-doctoral experience. The potential exists for joint appointments with other NIH Institutes and Centers to pursue research in the field of clinical research informatics. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a M.D. and/or Ph.D. with informatics training, as well as experience at a senior level and as an architect, strategist, and leader for biomedical translational research informat ics. The candidate should have exceptional communication skills and be able to articulate a vision for clinical research informatics for the NIH’s Intramural clinical r esearch program. They should also have the ability to develop and implement strategies to support clinical research information management. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and use a consultative approach to problem solving and decision-making. This tenure-track or tenure-eligible appointment offers a nationally competitive salary, full benefits package, (including r etirement, health, life, and long term care insurance), and participat ion in the federal Thrift Savings Plan.
