THANK you HIgHLANdS RANCH! - I have some exciting news to share with my friends and neighbors. I have accepted the position of President and CEo of The Wildlife Experience, a natural history and wildlife museum. The Wildlife Experience is a tremendous asset in the denver Metro Area (www.thewildlifeexperience.org) and I am eager to begin this new endeavor in my life and provide the leadership to take The Wildlife Experience to the next level. The skillsets and relationships that I have acquired in 20 years at the HRCA will help shape the future of The Wildlife Experience.

I am extremely excited about this new opportunity and I am looking forward to the challenges. However, it is with a sense of bitter sweetness that I make this announcement.

The strength of the team of dedicated staff at the HRCA has made this community one of the very best places to live and we should all be very proud of that fact. There is no other organization that has the strength of our collective efforts to create the quality of life that is so valued by our citizens. We have accomplished more in our 30 year history than most communities do in 100 years.

I know that in leaving the Community Manager position, I am leaving a wonderful and dedicated team in place that I have nothing but the highest regard for. you can count on them and we all have much to be proud of. The HRCA staff team, directors and volunteers of the past saw the future and what it could be, and together, we’ve made that future a reality – I love this place.

THE BIRdS ANd THE BEES - okay, I have nearly run out of room in the newsletter and out of time in my position and I promised to add a bee story to the birds from last month. The HRCA will work with a beekeeper to set beehives in the Backcountry Wilderness Area so that we can continue our own greening of the Ranch. Watch for future articles and news stories that will show more of the value of Highlands Ranch and the stewardship of the HRCA lands in the Backcountry. Hey, bees are wildlife too and extremely necessary in our ecosystem to maintain the healthy balance we enjoy in Colorado, and Beautiful Highlands Ranch.

I hope I have left my fingerprints on Highlands Ranch and farewell to all my friends at the HRCA that have made this such a wonderful place to live, work, and play!
