Flexiform were asked to supply a tender bid for the supply of furniture for the impressive UK headquarters of the Green Investment Bank on the seventh floor of Atria One in Edinburgh. The bid included furniture for the whole office, including reception, meeting rooms, boardrooms, open plan office space, and café and breakout areas, which including the outdoor balcony. We were also asked to offer bespoke furniture solutions for the CEO office, meeting rooms and VC rooms.

After a visit to our showroom in Livingston, Flexiform were successful in a tender bid to supply the furniture. Green Investment Bank wanted their suppliers to have green credentials, which Flexiform thanks to all of our products being reused and recycled. We conduct a full carbon footprint audit on an annual basis, are FIRA accredited, and are part of the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme. We are also FSC and ISO 14001 approved.

Throughout the Green Investment Bank project, Michael Laird Architects selected natural, clean products to illustrate the bank’s green credentials and ethos. Flexiform products have a clean, minimalist design, which works with the theme and tone of the building. Due to the success of this project, Flexiform have continued working with Green Investment Bank on further projects.

Green Investment Bank selected one of our most popular desking ranges - Pico. Pico has a slender and minimalist, yet sturdy, leg, and comes in a wide selection of RAL finishes and MFC tops. Pico is

available in a single, side-to-side, 120-degree or back-to-back configuration, the last of which was chosen by GIB. Different size desks are also available, from 600mm or 800mm depths, to 800mm to 1,200mm width desks.

The Pico range has a built in cable management system, which is accessable by pulling the sliding top forward. When adding extra desktop power modules and monitor arms, it can free up a lot of desk space for other necessary electronics or equipment. This was key for Green Investment Bank, as its staff needed extra space. Fabric desk screens can also be used as a pinboard, and can be accompanied by various accessories including whiteboards, pen trays, phone trays and box file holders to store desk items close to hand.

For a complete desk set up, Green Investment Bank selected all-white three drawer pedestals to offer personal storage facilities, alongside taller Jot lateral drawer storage for office files. Flexiform prides itself on its various storage facilities, catering for all clients’ needs. With different ranges available, and thanks to the resources of our UK factory and in-house engineering department, Flexiform can provide an incredibly wide range of solutions.

The design in Green Investment Bank was an important factor, and Flexiform was chosen for its practical but aesthetically-pleasing furniture design. For more information on our products and accreditations, visit www.flexiform.co.uk.

Meeting SeatingA variety of meeting seating, stools, and breakout seating was used throughout the project in various areas. All seeting tied in with the natural green colour theme of the building.

Flip-Top TablesFlexiform flip-top tables were used for meeting tables with central power units. Flip-top tables give a great deal of flexibility, allowing for many different uses of the room. They were finished in maple MFC to compliment the wood throughout.

Screens370mm high fabric desk screens were provided in natural green tones, with no extra tool rails or accessories. Top-of-desk power modules and monitor arms accompanied the screens.

Lateral StorageJot lateral drawer storage was selected in an all-white carcass and drawers, with the top drawer locking. The architect chose to encase the Jot units in natural wood.

Bespoke Meeting TablesWithin Green Investment Bank there are small meeting rooms set up for conference calls, each requiring a table bespoke to its needs. This requirement was met throughout the building, with complimenting meeting chairs upholstered in green.

DeskingFeaturing Pico back-to-back sliding top desking in white MFC, with white legs, and white under-desk mobile pedestals for personal storage. The desk’s sliding top caters for its built in cable management system.
