Headteacher’s update

Dear Parents/Carers,

Our Christmas preparations have continued in full swing over the last week!

They began with a wonderfully festive Christmas Fayre last Friday night. A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the preparations, the running of stalls, the clearing away and to those of you who came along and supported us. The evening was a great success! We have been well and truly wowed by our fantastic Christmas performances led by Reception, KS1 and KS2 this week. The children have narrated, sung, danced and acted brilliantly to packed audiences and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them! Through all of their performances, they have enabled us to share together in the joy and wonder of the Christmas story. We are really looking forward to our KS2 Carol Concert taking place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church this evening which promises to be a joyful and uplifting celebration! Our festive week culminated in our ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ in support of Save the Children. I hear that there have been some particularly mischievous elves playing tricks in our classrooms too! COMMUNICATIONS Please can we urge parents/carers to keep up to date with future events. You can do this by reading our weekly newsletter every Friday, viewing your ParentPay account on a weekly basis or visiting our school website. Any absences need to be reported each day your child is absent, via our voicemail service on 01527 546398. Please can we request that any daily information regarding after school collection arrangements or child absences comes through to us via telephone only. Thank you. MIDDLE SCHOOL APPICATIONS A reminder to Year 4 parents/carers that the closing date for your child's middle school application is Wednesday 15th January 2020. If you are applying for a place at St. Bede’s Middle school, please remember to send a copy of your child’s Baptism certificate (if they have one) to St. Bede’s office as soon as possible. RECEPTION CHRISTMAS PARTY To all Reception parents/carers, please remember to bring in your allocated party items for this Monday, 16th December and children are to wear their party clothes to school. REVERSE ADVENT CALENDAR This year, as part of our Advent preparations, we are asking the children to help support our idea for a ‘reverse advent calendar.’ Each day throughout December, a child’s name will be drawn from our class advent calendar and that child, in return for their chocolate treat, will be encouraged, if they are able, to donate an item of food to a hamper that we will donate to a food bank in time for Christmas. We think this is a lovely way to show the children that they can do something small to help support local families in need of help this Christmas. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. KEYSTAGE 1 CHRISTMAS DISCO A reminder that all children in Yr1 and Yr2 can come to school on Wednesday 18th December dressed in their own party clothes ready for their Christmas Disco at 3.10pm until 4.30pm. Yr3 and 4 disco will commence afterwards from 5.30pm until 7pm.
