Ongaonga School Newsletter – 13th December 2017 - Term 4 - Week 9 Greetings to the Ongaonga School Community. Nga mihi nui ki a Koutou After 19 years as a teacher at Ongaonga School and 32 years as a teacher, Mrs Brenda Pedersen is retiring. Thank you for giving our 5 year olds a great start to school. On behalf of the community I wish you well in your retirement. End of Year Reports Were issued on Tuesday 12 December. They are issued at this time so if you have a question about the content you have time to contact your childs teacher before the end of year rather than sitting on it over the break. Class Placements For 2018 are finalised with the current information we have. Students have visited their 2018 classes to meet their teachers and new classmates which will remove some of the anxiety that they may face over the holidays. I would also like to clarify the 2018 class placement is the most likely scenario to occur. If we have a number of families move in or out of the area we may need to adjust classes accordingly at the start of school next year. By being honoured and recognised, we believe a standard has been set that you will endeavour to improve on. Many Thanks After One Year As Principal I wish to thank the BOT for your dedication, skills and passion as you work together to govern Ongaonga School. Your commitment to improving student achievement through quality teaching and learning opportunities and providing the resourcing to achieve this. I thank the staff, teachers, teacher aides, support staff and office executives, for your dedication to the school. For committing to enhancing your own personal learning and taking on the challenges needed to make the school the best it can be. Thank you year 8s who we will sadly miss but look forward to hearing of how you have changed the world. As my first Y8 cohort you have set the bench mark for me for which all other Y8s will be measured. I would like to thank all students for representing our school with pride and integrity while demonstrating the ACE values. Thank you parents for producing such wonderful students and supporting our school through transporting, supervising and funding us to events, for helping us at both big and small activities from the Sevens to activity week and our working bees.
