Ongaonga School Newsletter – 3 rd May 2017 - Term 2 - Week 1 Greetings to the Ongaonga School Community. Nga mihi nui Ki a Koutou Welcome back to term two and a warm welcome to Callum, Jamie, Jessica, Rebecca and Kate Kappely, who have joined our school having moved from Argyll, and to Ruben Spotswood, who has come from Waipawa School. To Emma and Hayden Kappely and Debbie and Shane Spotswood, welcome to the Ongaonga School Community. ANZAC Day ANZAC Day means so many different things to different people. For me it is a day of remembrance, of pride in my forbearers who helped to create my world, for those who committed the ultimate sacrifice and to think of what I need to do to create the future I want for my children. Thanks to all those who represented Ongaonga School at the commemorations on ANZAC Day and to Mrs Barkle for helping to organise this community event. Busy Term We have another busy term lined up: Science is our learning focus with flight its context, sports trainings on Fridays, The Arts options on Thursday and Fridays, Year 7 and 8 camp in Rotorua, Gymnastic Festival, People Savers Course, and the Agri Kids Grand Final. Movie Stars Ongaonga punches above its weight in successes so it was great to see we are also taking over the television with our very own movie stars. Water System During the holidays our water system was upgraded with a UV sterilisation unit and a new holding tank. These additions will improve the quality of our water and greatly reduce the possibility of contamination. Over the next few weekends we will have repairs and improvements made to our roof that were identified in our building assessment report. Communicates Communicates is our value of the week, communicates effectively giving others positive feedback. Giving positive direct feedback brings repetition of the desired behaviour, rewards those that have done the desired behaviour and makes everyone feel good. The challenge is give three people positive feedback every day. A final thought, Show me your friends and I will show you your future.unknown. Holiday Stories

My Puppy

In the holidays I went to the hot

pools. I like swimming. I got a new

puppy. His name is Henry. He sits in

the sun and plays in

the bushes. He is black

and white.

I play with Henry a lot.

Wellington

In the holidays I went to Wellington.

It is a long way. It was fun. Sam got a

new scooter in Wellington. Then we

went for a scooter ride along the

water front. Mum was walking. We

went a long way and then we went

back to the hotel and had dinner.

We went up a hill and we looked at

the city. Everything was

lit up even the trees.
