Last year our Gardening Club made brilliant use of the compost to grow a wide range of tasty fruits and vegetables in our school allotment. We thought carefully, as a school, about how we are living out our school Mission by caring for the world around us. Headteacher’s update

Dear Parents/Carers,

We began our week with a whole school assembly, led by our Eco Warriors, on the importance of

recycling and the benefits of composting. They explained which waste products could be put into

the composting bins at playtime and how this will be turned into compost to help plants, fruits

and vegetables to grow. Last year our Gardening Club made brilliant use of the compost to grow a

wide range of tasty fruits and vegetables in our school allotment. We thought carefully, as a

school, about how we are living out our school Mission by caring for the world around us.

On Wednesday evening we held our Yr 2 SATS Information Evening in which Mrs Burrows and Mrs

Hartley explained how we are preparing the children in Yr 2 for the end of KS1 assessments and

ways in which parents can continue to support at home. The PowerPoint presentation is

available on the Yr 2 class pages of the school website.

Please do look at the curriculum and class pages on our website for detailed information about

what your child is learning each term in school.

Our Yr 1 and Yr 2 children had a very exciting time this week when they were visited by Charlotte

from the Dogs Trust Charity in Evesham, who explained her job and how they can look after their

own pets. Yr 1 was also very lucky to invite two parent visitors into the classroom who brought in

their very own pets - including a pet turtle and pet hamster! Thank you to the parents for

providing the children with the opportunity to find out lots of exciting things about these animals!

On Thursday, a group of Yr 4 children were put through their paces at a History Debating

competition held at St Bede’s. Well done to Freya, George, Delilah and George who researched,

prepared and delivered an excellent presentation on why they believe that the Victorians made

the most impact in history and, after a hard fought battle, achieved second place overall. We are

extremely proud of you!

Members of our choir are busy rehearsing for their performance in the Parish Concert taking place

on Friday 2nd February and Sunday 4th February at St Bede’s. Tickets are available from the school

office.

On behalf of all the staff at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we

wish our ‘Mount Carmel Does Strictly’ dancers and everyone

involved in the show the very best of luck for Saturday night –

break a leg!

Enjoy your weekend!
