or pharmacists. Our ocus o the High Level Stakeholders

Roudtables, geared to supplemet ad eed this iteratioal

Miisters Summit, has elevated FIP as a world leader i health

care developmet, capable o coveig some o the worlds

across borders. The realisatio o these two icredible meetigs

is tagible evidece o the hard work put orth this past year,

but yet are just the proverbial tip o the iceberg i what has bee

accomplished both behid the scees ad outwardly to the

FIPs year history, yet they are as well the itroductio to

FIP has adopted as oe o its three mai Strategic Objectives

to advace the pharmaceutical scieces. This ambitious goal is

doe through the work o the te Special Iterest Groups SIGs

led by the Board o Pharmaceutical Scieces which develop

projects ad iitiatives to aid FIP ad its Member Orgaisatios

truly advace the pharmaceutical scieces o a global level.

Over the course o , the key accomplishmet o the

BPS was the adoptio o the ew BPS Strategic Pla. I additio,

aother primary area o ocus was goig ito stroger collabo

ratio with the Board o Pharmacy Practice BPP, a edeavour

already put ito actio with the combied sciecepractice FIP

Programme Committee preparig the programme or the

Ceteial. The BPS has also released a ar ticle etitled Impact

o the Pharmaceutical Scieces o Health Care: A refectio over

the past 5 Years that has bee made available o the

FIP website.

Leadership also chaged hads this year, with Dr Hek de

Jog the netherlads elected ad cormed as FIP ScieticSecretary at the FIP Cogress i Hyderabad, Idia, ollowig

i the ootsteps o previous Secretary Dr Viod Shah USA.

At the BPS meetig held i February Pro. Geo Tucker

UK was uaimously elected as t he ew Chairma o the BPS.

At this same meetig the BPS uaimously elected Pro. Ross

McKio Australia as ew vice presidet through the BPS.

The outcome will be orwarded to the FIP Executive Committee

ad Bureau or iormatio ad to the Coucil or raticatio

durig the FIP Ceteial Cogress i Amsterdam, October .

These madates will be held rom util 6. Pro. Mitsuru

Hashida Japa will be the immediate pastchair o BPS or the

same period.

The BPS is plea sed to cogratulate Dr Malcolm Rowlad UK,

who received the prestigious HstMadse Medal at the

Hyderabad Cogress. The HstMadse Medal is the highest

Pharmaceutical Sciece award o FIP ad will be awarded every

two years, i the odd years, at a aual FIP Cogress.

Followig a request rom the FIP Presidet ad FIP CEO, the

Scietic Secretary alog with support rom FIP sta ad a

special programme committee, is i charge o orgaisig a

special programme o World Pharmacopoeias i collaboratio

with the World Health Orgaizatio WHO, which will be part o

the Ceteial Cogress i Amsterdam.

FIPs strategic Pharmacy Educatioal iitiative, FIPEd is i the

startig blocks, with Academia, Practice ad Sciece eedig to

work together to achieve holistic visios ad goals or pharmacy

educatio spaig both sciece ad practice. A combied

idividual pharmacists i pharmacy prac tice. Icreased ocus by

govermets o marketbased ecoomies, global competitive

orces ad costcotaimet i the health care sector have the

capacity to compromise these importat compoets o proes

sioal lie. A Workig Group, cochaired by Dr. William Zellmerad Dr. Betty Char, has bee appoited to study these issues

ad to issue a prelimiary report o digs at the 3 Dubli

Cogress.
