Construction

Double Page Spread

Used shapes tool to create a border for the double page spread.

The different layers prioritise the design features.

Detailed information about TV shows are starting to be inserted into the page. Our documentary takes main priority, giving a detailed synopsis about it.

This bit gives the entire page more realism, as we are promoting other shows in the page.

The layers will become more significant as we progress in the construction, since it will help us to order the different parts the way we want.

Added more program listings to give the guide a feel of depth and realism. A description will follow the title listing and time describing what that program is.

More layers are added, as we begin creating a more detailed and slick design the amount of layers build up and increase the file size dramatically.

Further listings are added such as ‘Another police drama’ and ‘CSI: Brighton’. Each with it’s own description will help add more making this guide look as realistic as impossible

Around the top we have added a border text box which gives the day of the television guide, we used ‘Thursday’ because Thursday is when television ratings are at their highest. We have included the ‘Today’s Choice’ pick which highlights our documentary

Poster

This was one of the very first designs of a poster we had created for our documentary. Channel 4 advertising usually is very basic with maximum effect, the plain black background is almost an attention seeker and the black/white contrasting colours make the text and the logo stick out.

Poster 2

This was the second poster design we had created, it featured many aspects of what the first poster had except this time we featured a simplistic design which would be instantly recognisable to any watchers, or in the case of a street advertisement ‘passers by’. It is a PacMan logo with yellow dots, this is a brilliant feature for our poster because it helps represent what the documentary is about without revealing to much, this will hopefully make our audience seem very interested so that they tune in to the broadcast.

Editing the Documentary

In this screenshot we took you can see we are adding and editing various shots from out timeline on our documentary, here a ‘Fade In’ transition is being added to the clip, this will help vary the film so that all of the cuts and shot changes do not look alike, this will keep the audience more interested. Something such as small as this can still have an effect, keeping the audience interested and watching is the number one task.

In this screenshot we took you can see we are adding and editing various shots from out timeline on our documentary, here an animated title card is being added, this is to be shown at the start of our documentary to introduce the film. The style that has been selected is ‘Video Terminal’ this makes the test appear at the speed we select like it is being entered in an old fashioned computer. This title was then entered at the begging, this is to establish the title to the audience and to overall introduce the show, this is a minimalistic introduction yet set’s the scene perfectly for the viewer.

You can see here we have adjusted the volume in slide transitions to coincide with the voiceover, this helps us contact the audience directly as we are addressing them as we talk

The voiceovers we have done were completed in audacity, they were then edited for white noise removal. We then placed them in audio track 2 as to avoid running into any music or effects we had in audio track 1

We have inserted transitioning effects in our documentary along with title slides and cuts. In the video bar we place these effects in which then link two pieces of video together, audiences usually prefer something different to the normal transition cut for this we use fades.
