SERIF MOVIE PLUS X6

I was new to this editing software. Even though I had difficulties at first, the more I edited my film footage for any tasks set(preliminary task and practise) and my film the better my editing skills became.

Serif Movie Plus taught me how to add title, credits, slow down music, trim my footage, add visual effects, add animation as part of the credits entering my film, vary my shots such as camera work and use editing techniques, effectively also using music at appropriate times for my tasks to create smooth continuity editing.

As well as, adding narration and blocking the image of the video so you could only hear that and the audio track. I also blocked the ambient music in the film footage. I wanted the sound in my main film task to sound smooth and calm. The ambient music would have made it sound messy, plus there would have been too much noise going on for the audience to focus on the narration.

BLOG WORKHOW I UPLOADED IMAGERY USING MY BLOG

The blog was also very difficult for me at first but as time wore on I definitely got the hang of it. I took advice from Pete, from one of his seminars, to learn from previous AS student blogs and apply some of their techniques to my blog.I had trouble with basically everything. I first started splitting labels into different blogs! My friend showed me pages, which I saw from the gadgets box ‘labels’ I used that for my blog instead and it really helped made my blog look so much more organised. When it came to uploading pictures and videos I was so clueless. Uploading pictures from any computer on to my blog was easy but uploading videos was tricky. I could only do it through YouTube. So I had to set up a YouTube account with plenty of creative videos used on my blog- hope you enjoy!

FILMINGFLIP CAMThe flip cam provided very good footage, the film was clear- the tripod was only used to make sure the footage was steady. But as for the film itself it created an actual visual movie image which I was very happy with. I also liked the zoom in and outs which was easy to do whilst filming, it made some shots look so effective. Especially, when viewing Asha’s face near the gate, after she has pressed the control box to open the school gate, near the beginning of the film.

TRIPODI started off with the mini tripod, then used the Jessops after a while and finally the Corbel tripod on the last day of filming. These tripods were very beneficial when filming, as for the mini tripod it only has one level so I had to have a perfect balance to ensure a steady footage. But the Jessops tripod was a major factor, the flip cam was screwed on the top so I didn’t have to hold onto it, and (when Asha showed me) I could adjust the legs on different levels – this could help with full shots, mid shots ad close ups, even low and high angles. The corbel tripod was the most difficult because I had to hold the flip cam and keep a steady balance, because the tripod wasn’t designed for a flip cam. However, this wasn’t too tricky because I was used to working with a bigger tripod, this was similar to the Jessops only that the camera wouldn’t screw on, and like with the min tripod I had to hold the flip cam. Even so, the tripod was still beneficial since it helped create some amazing shots.

OVERALL

I have learnt so much about technologies from the process of constructing this product. First of all, my blog-because blogger wasn’t always so helpful with different text styles. I would edit the text on Microsoft word, using different fonts and different colours, then paste it on the blog post which it was needed for. Sometimes it worked if not I made do with what I had.

Significantly, it was Serif Movie Plus X6 which I am most happy with learning a lot about, I am so pleased I know how to use the software effectively now for any project which I may choose to edit in the future!
