Education Exposure to concepts of Science, literature
Mathematics, Environment Engineering and Technology.
For challenges and needs of the Society
From Literacy to Education
Education can come from conversations, classrooms, internet, special events, and other sources.
Our understanding is not attributable to a single source and is certainly not solely
the domain of classrooms and laboratories.
NCF and Paradigm shiftA major goal of the NCF 2005 is to "promote the discovery, integration, dissemination, and employment of new knowledge in service of society" One strategy for achieving this goal is to "infuse education with the joy of discovery and an awareness of its connection to exploration.
…in effect it means…
Learning with understanding so that application of knowledge is possible in every sphere of human life.

Lesson PlanA lesson plan is a teacher's detailed
description of the course of instruction, or 'learning trajectory' for a lesson. A daily lesson plan is developed by a teacher to guide class learning.
Details will vary depending on the preference of the teacher, subject being covered, and the needs of the students
What should a child Learn?
• Learn to Live Together• Learn to Learn• Learn to Know
• Learn to Be
In school ..

OR a Teacher mayKnowledge • Subjective• Contextual• Dependent on learners
beliefs• Dependent on Social

New Role of Teacher With You , For You Always
Friend , Guide and MentorRecognise Individual Differences Recognise each child as a human above any
caste , bias and gender
Recognise there is no single solution to any problem.
Understanding the Learner1. Health and Physical
Development2. Intelligence3. Culture4. Personality and Learning Styles5. Motivation6. Discipline and Attitude
2.Intelligence Gardner
• Linguistic• Logical• Visual / Spatial• Kinesthetic• Musical• Intra personal• Inter personal
Gardner
4.Personality and Learning Styles
5.Motivation ±Learning experience should match personality and
learning styles
• Intrinsic and Extrinsic motivation • Curriculum relevance to environment of the learner• Balance between Cognitive and Emotional
Challenge• learning should challenge skills ,understanding
6.Discipline Attitude
and
Aptitude capability; ability; innate or acquired capacity
for something
Problems We Face• Tuition for a better tomorrow• Number of Students per Class• Individual Differences Motivation, Aptitude and
Attitude Level Variance• Infrastructure Limitations• Lack of written work Practice & Feedback• Syllabus and Marks - Board Examination -college • Place of Curricular and Co Curricular activities - Time
Management• What will I do after school ?
Role of Vocabulary in
lesson planning (hand out - discussion)
Role and power of Questions in
lesson planning
OUR AIM FOR MAKING A LESSON PLAN
• To impart Life skills• To maintain content standards• To take care of student interests• To assess according to
developmental levels.
Easy do-able ways
Plan together ..share Communicate
AndCreate
Analysing Lesson plansWhat has not changed……A frame work to achieve what the teacher
desires for the class• Syllabus is pre defined , methods are
not • Choose according to class• Tailor make it for them • Remember one size does not fit all
Common Lesson Plan modalities
• Syllabus break up • Year - co curricular and academic calendar • term wise• Monthly• Number of teaching periods per week• Weekly plan
Weekly Plans • Topic to be covered during the week• Apparatus/aids used• Questions/quiz/assessment• Worksheets• Remarks Study the plan structures and find ways to
teach differently
Steps……..1. Outline Syllabus2. Create Mind map 3. Time line Monday .. Tuesday…4. Structure the Classes …
introduction, development and evaluation 5. Collect relevant resources6. Self evaluation ( Handout)
Example…Pressure in liquids
To be covered in two classes of 35 mins each Handout syllabus mind mapActivity resources Evaluation
First period
Pressure in liquids
Demonstrate activities
Let them work on a work sheet
Ask questions ?
Allow discussion
(question sheet )
Plan Recall to be done Before Every Class
You may point out • New terms ,Concepts • Rationale of doing the topic in a unit .• Ask simple questions • Write on the board a brief outline of the topics
covered in the unit . • Write any expression derived in the previous class • If possible use numeral value with concepts .
So Second Period Start with Recall 1. Pressure exerted on the base depends upon
height of liquid column2. It exerts a pressure on the sides of the container3. At a certain level the pressure is equal in all
directions independent of shape of container 4. Now introduce ….upthrust ….Atmospheric
pressure
Questions for ‘yeh dil mange more’
• If the fluid pressure is the same in all directions, what causes the upthrust?
• Why is the apparent weight of a ship in water zero?
• Why is the liquid surface horizontal even when we tilt the container ?
• Can I put excess tooth paste back in the jacket?
Give Study Guides • Give out syllabus outline to each student let
them keep track of our work • Allow students to understand on their own • Give home work and guide them to experiment
with stuff in the house and find answers , make summary of each unit
• Ask them to read the news paper daily . • Link news paper stories with class lessons
where ever possible
The out of the box plan
Problems(discussion)
How will I know whether I am doing ok?????
Use feedback
Content Easy / DifficultDone too fast / slow
Level high / low Examples adequate / inadequate NCERT / help book readings
cleared concepts Revision done / not done What were the difficult portions?
so….If you were to re teach what would you do ?
Feedback is for the entire teaching
learning process Teacher as teacher Teacher as learner
Students as teacher Students as learner
Towards more meaningful transaction
… enjoy teaching !!
