Definition

Wiki- Digipak is a patented style of compact disc or DVD packaging Digipaks typically consistof a gatefold (book-style) paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more plasticTrays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside.

DVD Digipaks can apply to all types of media entertainment such as; Films, TV shows,Games, Music or even books. Digipaks are a great way for Artists to create a sense ofpersonalisation with the audience, as within the pack it may include special features such as –interviews, live gigs and exclusive tracks in which the consumer may not have been able toaccess via the internet or other resources. This also helps promote the production of Digipaksas they include a lot of exclusive information and this becomes exciting for fans of theparticular artist.

The basic structure and design of a Digipak will include a CD as the central base of thepacking, a booklet or poster- which can usually be found within the left inside fold of the caseand also a DVD which can be found either next to the CD or as part of a separate packingwithin the Digipak.

Intentions for Digipak

As the tone and mood of my copyright free trackis based on the rock/alternative genre, I will needto consider the design of my Digipak to suit therepresentation of the band. The ideas for my music videomay also play a key feature in the design so I can evenconsider using stills from my music video in order toconvey the style from the track. The initial design I would like to create for my Digipakwould be an Integral booklet design because I think thisdesign is simplistic and eye-catching for potentialconsumers.
