Family Prayer

L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war,

disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of

today against violence, murder and racism.

We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives

respect to the life and dignity of all people.

Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved

ones through violence.

Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice

for life and human dignity in our community.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us.

Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy

family.

4:00 pm Mass Entrance Turn to Me

Refrain

Turn to me, O turn, and be saved,

says the Lord, for I am God;

There is no other, none beside Me.

I call your name.

1. I am God who comforts you;

Who are you to be afraid

of flesh that fades,

is made like the grass of the fields,

soon to wither.

2. Listen to Me, My people;

Give ear to Me, My na&on:

a law will go forth from Me,

and My jus&ce for a light to the people.

3. Li* up your eyes to the heavens,

and look at the earth down below.

The heavens will vanish like smoke,

and the earth will wear out like a gar-

ment.

Offertory Ubi Caritas

Refrain/Estribillo

Ubi caritas est vera, est vera:

Deus ibi est, Deus ibi est.

1. The love of God joins us together.

Let us rejoice in him,

and in our love and care for all

now love him in return.

2. In true communion let us gather.

May all divisions cease

and in their place be Christ the Lord,

our risen Prince of Peace.

3. May we who gather at this table

to share the bread of life

become a sacrament of love,

your healing touch, O Christ.

4. For those in need make us your mercy,

for those oppressed, your might.

Make us, your Church, a holy sign

of jus&ce and new life.

5. May we one day behold your glory

and see you face to face,

rejoicing with the saints of God

to sing eternal praise.

Communion On Eagle's Wings

1. You who dwell in the

shelter of the Lord,

who abide in his shadow for life,

say to the Lord: "My refuge,

my rock in whom I trust!"

Refrain

And he will raise you up

on eagle's wings,

bear you on the breath of dawn,

make you to shine like the sun,

and hold you in the palm of his hand.

2. The snare of the fowler

will never capture you,

and famine will bring you no fear:

under his wings your refuge,

his faithfulness your shield.

3. You need not fear the

terror of the night,

nor the arrow that flies by day;

thousands fall about you,

near you it shall not come.

4. For to his angels

he's given a command

to guard you in all of your ways;

upon their hands

they will bear you up,

lest you dash

your foot against a stone.

Sending Forth Seek the Lord

Refrain

Seek the Lord,

while He may be found;

call to Him while he is s&ll near.

1. Today is the day,

and now the proper hour

to forsake our sinful lives

and turn to the Lord.

2. As high as the sky

is above the earth,

so high above our ways,

the ways of the Lord.

3. Finding the Lord,

let us cling to Him.

His words, his ways lead us to life.

4. Someday we’ll live

in the house of God;

gaze on His face

and praise His name.

Sending Forth There's a Wideness in God's Mercy

1. There's a wideness in God's mercy

Like the wideness of the sea;

There's a kindness in God’s jus&ce,

Which is more than liberty.

There is plen&ful redemp&on

In the blood that has been shed;

There is joy for all the members

In the sorrows of the Head.

2. There is welcome for the sinner,

And a promised grace made good;

There is mercy with the Savior;

There is healing in Christ’s blood.

There is grace enough for thousands

Of new worlds as great as this;

There is room for fresh crea&ons

In that upper home of bliss.

Refrain

So be merciful,

just as our God is merciful.

Be merciful,

just as our God is merciful to us.

Let there be a wideness in our mercy.

Let there be a kindness in our hearts.

Oh, may our lives be merciful.

3. For the love of God is broader

Than the measures of the mind;

And the heart of the Eternal

Is most wonderfully kind.

If our love were but more simple,

We would know the living word;

And our lives would be thanksgiving

In the kindness of our Lord.

4. There's a wideness in God's mercy

Like the wideness of the sea;

“Dios es rico en misericordia . . .” Efesios 2:4

Sending Forth Forty Days

1. Forty days to wander,

forty days to die to self.

Forty days to grow stronger

as faith breaks open the gates of hell.

The jubilee is over,

but grace is far from gone

in the hearts of the faithful,

broken on the wheels of love.

lies the storm of true conversion,

where springs of living water

drown and refresh you.

2. Forty days to remember

the Paschal sacrifice.

Forty days to discover

His passion calls us to new life.

The jubilee is over,

but mercy's far from gone

in the arms of the Father

as the wayward child comes home.

'Cause in the desert of tempta&on

The Sanctuary Candle burns this week

In memory of Anthony Cavallino

On the first Sunday of Lent, a Life Teen author suggests that we strengthen our weakest spot. This is where Satan will attack. In today’s gospel (Luke 4:1-13) Satan waits 40 days for Jesus to build up hunger in the desert and then tempts Him with food. At Life Teen and Edge with God’s grace we are able to support each other. Join us this Lenten season for food, fun and prayer. Growing closer to Christ and other teens will help you prepare for Easter.

SACRED HEART ENTHRONEMENT

One does not live by bread alone, but by every

word that comes forth from the mouth of God.

Like the Jews of ancient time we are given everything we

need for a decent life, and through the power of the elec-

tronic media we are shown daily how blessed we are as we

see up close those who are not so fortunate. However, we

tend to take our blessings for granted and like the Jews we

will be stripped of everything so that we can come to under-

stand that the only sure thing is the love and power of God.

May we use this Year of Mercy to surrender every part of

our beings to the One Who Saves – Christ the Lord.

For information on the enthronement of the Sacred Heart in

your home, please contact Anne-Marie d'Abadie at 443-

2204 or email [email protected] (English), or

Lynda Peña at 338-4306 (Spanish).

Sin embargo, tende-mos a tomar nuestras bendiciones por aseguradas y al igual que los Judíos vamos a ser despojados de todo, para que podamos llegar a entender que lo único seguro es el amor y el poder de Dios. Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself en-tirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
