Family Prayer

L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdi-ocese have appreciated the pray-

ers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Suc-cor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism.

We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives re-spect to the life and dignity of all people.

Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence.

Hear our prayer and give us the persever-ance to be a voice for life and human dignity in our community.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us.

Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family.

In JN 12:20-33, we hear about the coming of Je-sus’ hour. Jesus says, “Whoever loves his life los-es it,” (JN 12:25). We at LIFETEEN and Edge agree with the statement of the LIFETEEN author. “When we stop chasing things that will ultimately not satisfy us, and when we fall more in love with God, we can bring life into the world and have greater joy.” Join us for an Edge or LIFETEEN event as we explore ways to detach ourselves from certain things and fall more in love with God.

“God is rich in mercy . . .” Ephesians 2:4

Lent is a God given opportunity to re-examine our priorities - who and what come first in our daily lives. Do we begin and end our day focusing on the Lord and thanking Him for His many blessings received, or are we occupied with problems, fears and insecurities? Our culture trains us to behave as though we are God, taking credit for all our successes; assuming responsibility for everything and everyone; believing that we must have the solution to every problem. Throughout the bible, God the Father keeps reminding us through the prophets and then through Jesus, that He is in charge, not us. He tells Jeremiah, I will give them a heart with which to understand that I am the Lord. They shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart. (Jer. 2:4) Who or what are my gods? In the remaining weeks of this holy season, let us take stock of our lives, turn to God, ask forgiveness for our pride and arrogance, and let God be God. “Dios es rico en misericordia . . .” Efesios 2:4

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself en-tirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
