SATTAL: Sattal is the place to visit between December and May for a chance to click a few of the most beautiful birds in their best

perches.

Sattal, a group of mysteriously interconnected group of seven lakes set amidst dense forests of oak and pine trees, at an altitude of 1370 meters above sea level and part of Nainital district in the state of Uttarakhand. A scenic place at foothills of Himalayas, this place is a unique combination of un-spoilt environment and quite an ambience. Visiting Sattal is a multi-task opportunity. From a chance to explore the natural vistas in the surrounding to the joy of watching exotic birds flock, visitors can opt for a range of activities to keep themselves engaged. These seven lakes and their dense surroundings are heaven for migratory birds. Sattal has 500+ species of resident and migratory birds, with 20 species of mammals, more than 525 species of butterflies and over 11,000 species of moths, beetles, bugs and other insects!

Day 1 -The guests will be picked up from Delhi in Air Conditioned Toyota Innova van and driven to Sattal. There will be 3 guests per vehicle for added comfort and space. It is a 7 hour journey depending on traffic. The drive in the latter part of the trip is through the scenic Uttrakhand mountains!The guests will be greeted by the staff at the home stay in Sattal. They have their own guide. One doesn't generally need any porters as one is mostly moving on flat grounds or in hides.

The home stay staff will brief you about

the place and guide you to your rooms to freshen up. Time permitting, you will go for bird watching and bird photography for the remaining day.

Tea and coffee is served on demand and vegetarian meals are served in the dining hall. There is a set routine every day from sunrise to sunset with plenty of opportunities to get maximum number of target species. There will be guide to help you spot and identify the birds while walking and taking pictures. There are also hides for easy spotting and taking images.

Day 2 to 4 -

Day 5 -

The same routine will follow for 3 days. Spots for photography will change on set schedule or random in case some rare species are sighted. Meals will be served at set times and refreshments will be available on demand.

Morning Birding session around the camp till breakfast. We will check out from the camp and proceed to Delhi. It is a seven hours journey from there through the scenic hill station route of Himalayan mountains.
