Apology Parents / carers At the July 23rd Goldenfields ‘Temora’s got Talent’ public schools presentation a Drama piece was performed by a senior Temora High School student. There was content within the performance that was inappropriate to the age and nature of the audience on the night. The piece that was performed was a part chosen and approved for HSC study and for assessment purposes. It was part of a year 11 body of work that was learned by the students under the tutelage of their HSC teacher at Karabar Distance Education High School Queanbeyan. The teacher was not aware that the piece was to be performed in front of a general audience. Whilst approved and suitable for a senior HSC Drama class for study and performance the piece, as was presented, was not suitable for the general audience at ‘Temora’s got Talent’. All three Goldenfields Principals have now taken measures to ensure that in the future there are adequate mechanisms in place to vet all performances before they are presented on stage. We apologise for its inclusion on the night and no similar situation will occur again.

The Student Representative Council have chosen the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child Appeal as their fund-raising project for this term. The K-2 children and Primary SRC reps listened to a talk about this appeal today, from the local coordinator Janelle Pinney. The children are keen to bring in items to fill shoeboxes, to be sent to very needy children around the world. A brochure re packing a shoebox has been given to each family. The SRC are asking for just one item per child to be brought in, to make up as many complete shoeboxes as we can. In previous years we have made over 60 shoeboxes!! The categories and suggested ideas for gifts are:

The age groups are 2-4 years, 5-9 years, 10-14 years, boys or girls. You may choose any age for your gifts and we will pack the boxes with appropriate items. All donations need to be in at school by the end of week 9, 11th September. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Johnson at school.

TRENT BARRETT SHIELD On Wednesday 5th August a large number of Year 3 and 4 students represented Temora Public School at Trent Barrett Shield at Bob Aldridge Park, Temora. Trent Barrett Shield is a competition combining Rugby League for boys and League Tag for girls. The League Tag girls had a successful day making the Grand Final. The girls beat Cootamundra in the pool game however they drew with Junee North. The girls made the final on a thrilling count back of for and against points as they were on equal points with Junee North. The girls then overpowered Young in the semi-final. In the Grand Final they narrowly lost, going down to West Wyalong 4-2 in a fantastic display of team work and sportsmanship. The Rugby League boys had a tough day out in the terrible weather conditions of wind and rain. The boys only just lost both their Pool games against Cootamundra and Young. However, the boys tasted success when they beat St Anne’s in the consolation final. A very special thank you to Mr Mark Stimson who coached and trained the boys throughout Term 2 and coached them on the day.
