Corvette Expressions 3rd Edition—Volume 130 June, 2017

Greetings, and welcome to the June, 2017 issue of Cor-vette Expressions! I don’t think I can remember a May as rainy as this one. However, inclement weather didn’t stop club members from partaking in some fun activities this past month: On May 1, Joe and Linda Fernandez organized a vette-to-gether at the Fireside Grill in Marlboro. Several members attended, and the parking lot was a sea of cor-vettes - always a cool sight! The following Saturday, members met for lunch at Fer-nandes Restaurant. If you’ve never been there, it is al-ways worth the trip, but you need to come hungry! Thanks to Al and Anita Quigley for this activity. The fun continued later on in the evening in Matawan at their first car show and 50’s dance. Thanks, Bill Nagle. Finally, the big event of May was the annual Corvette Express car show and BBQ at the Bar A. in Belmar. The weather was picture perfect, and the show had a great turnout. As always, a big thanks to Skip Allen, Joe and Linda Fernandez, and the rest of the Bar A. committee. Finally, on a sad note, former club member, Peggyann Haffey, passed away in Florida on May 29, after a long battle with cancer. Peggyann and her husband Brian joined Corvette Express back in 2001. After relocating to Florida, they became active in the Citrus County Corvette Club. Anyone wishing to offer their condo-lences can contact Brian Haffey at [email protected] .

Welcome to June and Happy Father's Day to all the Corvette Express dads!

Let me start by saying what a wonderful time we had at our annual Bar-A event. The weather was just per-fect, and once again we had an excellent turn out. This was just the beginning of a whole list of events we have planned for this season.

We also have our spring picnic this month which will be discussed in further detail at this month’s meeting. There will be numerous sign-up sheets for upcoming events as well. Please check for deadlines and book-ing status for some of these trips. Club membership is continuing to grow, and we're on good financial ground at this point in the year. Mem-ber participation is also increasing, and this is key to keeping the club "fresh" and moving in positive di-rections. In closing, let's continue our momentum and have a wonderful 2017 Corvette Express Vette-Together season! See you all at the June Meeting, Wed. June, 7th. Yours in Corvettes, Rob Lombardi
