Since 2004 WP Chipper Hire & Sale (Pty) Ltd
trading as Africa Biomass Company has been
in the forefront of the development of biomass
processing such as wood chips, biofuels and
more in Southern Africa.
Africa Biomass Company is the only wood
chipping company in South Africa to provide
wood recycling services, biofuel & mulch sales as
well as wood chipper equipment sales.
As the only dealer in Africa for Bandit Industries
Inc., an American wood chipper manufacturing
company, Africa Biomass company has led the
industry for a few years now.
Africa Biomass Company has immense capability
to deliver a wide range of wood recycling
services on a small and large scale to a multitude
of clients in diverse markets.
We have dealers all over South Africa and is still
expanding regularly to provide our expertise,

Geographical FootprintAfrica Biomass Company has two major centres
located in Worcester, Western Cape and

ABC operates in all 9 provinces in South Africa
and also cross the border into sub-Sahara Africa
including Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique,
Swaziland, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Africa Biomass Company are the country’s leading experts in land clearing, wood chipping and wood recycling. The business revolves around the novel concept of grinding up unwanted trees on site, with the use of wood chipper machines, in
order to create biomass - a renewable source of fuel to produce energy.
This biomass is then either sold back to the site owner or onto a secondary market, thereby essentially generating value from waste wood.

Excavators with specialised attachments, three-
wheel loggers and other loading equipment
removes old orchards and windbreaks from root
to top, which is then fed into a horizontal grinder
and recycled into usable wood chips.
The horizontal grinder processes the waste
woodaccordingtospecificationsdiscussedand
agreed upon with the land owner or project
manager.
Processing of waste wood into a viable product,
that if applied correctly, using Africa Biomass
Company’s patented designed mulch spreaders,
could have up to 30% increase in water
conservation as well as many other advantages.
Africa Biomass Company provides mulch
spreading services with our patented, personally
designed, mulch spreaders.
The mulch spreader is the most effective method
to spread wood chips and/or compost evenly in
existing and/or new plantations.
The spread width and volume can be adjusted
orcalibratedtoeachclient’sspecificneedsand
specifications.

providing water conservation in orchards and

Africa Biomass Company is regularly involved in
river rehabilitation projects in the Western Cape
by removing and recycling invasive alien trees in
riparian zones.
In 2017 ABC removed invasive Eucalyptus trees
in the Breede River & Berg River systems.
Wood chips recycled from these projects as well
as wood chips from recycled old or unwanted
orchards, vineyards and windbreaks were
spread in new vineyards and orchards. This
has lead to a massive water saving equal to the
amount of water usage of ±45 000 households in
one year.
RIvER REHAbILItAtION
Africa Biomass Company collects wood chips,
according to specifications, in mass trailers or
in bags which is then transported to the end
user where it can be used as wood chip mulch or
biofuel for various types of “green” applications.
Private UseWood chips are dyed with organic colour dye and
then bagged for use in private garden projects or
landscaping projects.

Previously waste wood was burnt. This precious
resource is available in large volumes and may
either be used as wood chip mulch or biofuel for
energy production.

Môreson Grondverskuiwers, an earthmoving
company in Robertson, are experts at land
clearing.

These equipment includes, but are not limited to:• Tree shears, which cut trees of up to 550 mm
in diameter;
