The youngsters watch a video showing the nature of the company’ s operations, and tour the plant to see products and displays. For many of the students it is their first time to visit a plant, so they are often excited and thrilled at the unusual and surprising sights during the short tours. We received heartwarming letters from the children after the visit, which greatly moved all of our employees. We will continue to offer plant visits in the hopes of bringing excitement to even more children in the future. Helping to stage local concerts Local companies cooperated to hold two school visits and concerts Daido Metal took part in organizing the “Fureai Trio Concert” in Inuyama City. In addition to the concert the “Fureai” program included performances at local schools and an “open market” in the lobby where social welfare groups from the area sold craft items and snacks. Initiated by violinist Kyoko Yoshida, these performances are closely allied with the company’ s values and are co-sponsored by Daido Metal together with the local community. The “Fureai Program”visited two elementary schools within the city to have students experience the wonder of music made by stringed instruments and to provide opportunities for them to actually touch and play these instruments for themselves. The next day, many visitors also attended the “Fureai Trio Concert.” Donations of beacon lights to fire departments [Daido Metal Kotor AD] Daido Metal Kotor AD provided donations of sirens and speaker-equipped beacon lights to be mounted on fire engines as well as passenger vehicles used for firefighting activities. Donations of desks, chairs, etc. to local elementary schools [BBL Daido Private Ltd.] BBL Daido Private Ltd. in India provided monetary donations as well as donations of desks, chairs, and other equipment to Panchayat Elementary School in Tamil Nadu state through its business partner, the Amalgamations Group. Contributions to improve local public safety (donations for security camera installation expenses) [Daido Precision Metal (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.］ Government and police officials consulted with companies in the area of the Suzhou Industrial Park, which is the location of Daido Precision Metal, regarding overall improvements to local public safety. Together with nearby companies, we provided donations towards the installation of security cameras and cooperated to improve the public safety of this community. Building and donating a school building as part of a high school [ISSP, ISSJ* commemorative project] As a commemorative project to mark the 25 th anniversary of ISSP’ s establishment and the 70 th anniversary of ISSJ’ s establishment, these companies built and presented a school building to a high school with insufficient facilities. (The school system in the Philippines changed in 2016, causing a large increase in the number of high school students but insufficient classrooms to receive them. In this project, a school building with a capacity for four classes was presented to a school in particularly high need.) These companies also provided gifts of notebooks featuring popular Japanese anime characters to 500 students ranging from elementary school to high school, who were overjoyed to receive them. Implementation of local contribution and support activities [ISS America Inc.] ISS America Inc. has a plant located in Logan County, Ohio, and is actively involved in activities for local contribution in its surrounding areas. In addition to providing donations to a history museum and offering scholarships to students from four high schools with outstanding performance in mathematics and science studies, it also donated three cherry blossom trees to a park near its plant, with a total of ten trees planted so far as part of its activities for improving the environment. Activities to donate school supplies [Daido Metal U.S.A. Inc.] Daido Metal U.S.A. Inc. is actively involved in social contribution activities in its local community. As an activity in FY2016 it participated in the “SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE”to donate school supplies to schoolchildren in Bellefontaine.
