  • Prominent Issues and Opportunities Concerns about loss: of people (esp. youth and young families), businesses, schools, other services, etc. Jobs and housing connection Substandard housing and high vacancy rate Recognition of economic realities High interest in tourism, but not modeled on Blaine County Lost Rivers Valley: Idahos ATV Capital Big Assets: Lost Rivers Medical Center, INL Marketing the valley as a place or region as opposed to marketing individual communities while respecting the unique identity of each community Roles, relationships, and collaboration

  • Since the Lost Rivers Community Review Arco County leaders, National Park Service, and others are working with congressional delegation staff and area agencies and organizations to build support for designating Craters of the Moon as a national park. A new Pretty City Committee has been established to address concerns and opportunities related to property maintenance, beautification, etc. An effort to develop a skate park is moving forward.

  • Since the Lost Rivers Community Review Mackay Developing visitor-oriented park or welcome center on vacant lot fronting Highway 93. The site has been graded and a preliminary site plan has been developed. Working on new community entrance signage Preparing for the 2 nd annual Rally in the Pines ATV event happening in mid- July. Expectation is that it will be bigger than last year's event.
