1 JANJJan 2015 Commodore’s Report – Garry Moore Dock Extension: We have received all of the approval from the required agencies for the extension of our dock. The next step is to put together a plan to finance and construct the dock. The Board will be addressing the issue at our next Board Meeting in May. Membership: Donna Sheneman reported that the Membership Committee has met and put together a 30-day plan and a 60-day plan for new members. The following is part of the Committee’s 30-day plan: As part of the PSYC Membership Committee's 30 day plan we are going to have a meet & greet at the boat ramp on Friday May 1st. As we know there is a lot of activity there for Opening Day weekend and we thought it would a good opportunity to provide information and handouts about our yacht club. We have ordered some custom fortune cookies (individually wrapped) with key messages about Puget Sound Yacht Club and that we are accepting new members (some of them offer discounts off the initiation fee). We will hand these out to people at the boat ramp on Friday along with some membership information, we are not looking for a hard sell but just to provide information about who we are, that we are accepting new members, and wishing them all a safe & happy Opening Day weekend....in addition we should invite them to join us on the dock Friday night for a burger. The committee is looking for volunteers to help hand out information and talk to our fellow boaters from about 8AM to 6PM Friday May 1st (and maybe beyond depending on how well it goes). We will provide some coffee & donuts for the early volunteers and lunch items for the mid-day crew. Let me know if you are willing to help and what time commitment you can give; we think this is a great opportunity to share information about our club and meet new people. The Committee has put our 3-month Club Calendar in Northwest Yachting Magazine. The Committee is also working on our Face Book page and on updating our web page. Internet Service: The Club house is currently without internet service. To get service to the Club will cost between $85 and $100 a month. The Board discussed the issue at the April Board Meeting. It was decided that there was not enough need to justify more than $1,000 a year for internet service, which is not in this year’s budget. The issue will be re-visited if there is a justified need in the future. Moorage: A question was asked at the March General Membership Meeting about limiting the time at which a boat could remain on the dock. It was suggested that moorage on the dock be tied to the level of involvement in Club activities by a member wishing to be on the dock or continuing to have moorage on the dock. The current moorage waiting list only has two to three boats that are interested in coming onto the dock. It was decided that this issue be tabled until the dock extension is under way. The feasibility of the dock extension will depend upon having a sufficient number of boats wanting moorage on the dock. Door Mats: Sharon Moore presented information and prices on purchasing door mats with the Club logo and the Club name on them. There was a significant amount of interest. I sent out an e-mail to the membership explaining the mats to see if there are enough members willing to purchase the mats to warrant going further. So far we have 16 members asking to purchase door mats. I encourage anyone interested to contact me as soon as possible about buying a mat. MAY 2015

Vice Commodore’s Report – Tim Dies

Rear Commodore’s Report – Paul Smith

Hello all, I am keeping this fairly brief this month. I want to take a moment to thank Steve Schwartz for his assistance in booking the Sea Scouts. I personally felt their presentation around youth activities on the water was quite entertaining and educational. It is my belief and many others that we may be able to network with their group, which in turn may bring about an infusion of youth into P.S.Y.C. (More to come). By the time you read this, we will be on the cusp of the Opening Day activities, starting with

Spring is here and we have had a month of great weather to get out and enjoy our boats. I want to thank our members for showing their pride in our club and helping out at the Spring Work Party last Saturday. We accomplished many tasks and the Club looks great!

washing the windows pressure washing the docks and sidewalks cleaning out and repainting the shed floor repainting the handrails cleaning out the galley cupboards planting new flowers trimming the shrubs

A reminder to all of our cruise captains, we have about 5 years worth of supplies up in the A Room that need to be used for cruises before we buy more. We own about 6,000 pieces of plastic ware, plates, napkins, cups and other assorted cruise related food stores. I am planning to do a full inventory and post it in the club so everyone knows what is there. I just want to express how impressed I am with everyone's willingness to work together to make our club more welcoming and fun. BryAnna and I are enjoying being at the club more and more and know it's because of every member making a

difference.

the first official Dock Friday. Trina and I have something special planned to kick off the start of the season. I hope to see a large representation of our membership during this high profile weekend. While we do not have a speaker scheduled for May, I am working behind the scenes to schedule something for our next meeting. As always, your ideas are always welcomed.

Fleet Captain’s Report – Robert Murphy

It has been a good start to the CY15 cruising

season for PSYC. At the end of April we had our cruise over to Kingston. As was promised by our own Paul Devlin we had sunshine and dry weather for the weekend. With help of cruise captains Klein/Devlin, Haistings & Shenemans, we had a great burger buffet with the addition of some Pirates of Caribbean. Just last week we skirted sketchy weather on our cruise up to Edmonds. With several people attending by car on Friday andSaturday we had plenty of social time. We had two new prospective members join us for the cruise and it was enjoyable having some new guests. Cruise captains Allens led the cruise with others joining in to help. We even were able to find some sunshine Saturday afternoon on the dock.

Coming up next is our Memorial Day cruise to Tacoma. We have currently filled up the available capacity and have a few boats on the reserve list. Please check out the flyer for our planned activities. We definitely encourage those not able to attend by boat to come down and join by car. June is not that far out for our Anacortes (June 26th-28th) cruise hosted by cruise captains Haistings and Shenemans. This cruise will be a great jumping off point for those heading north for the season or those joining us at our informal gathering at Roche Harbor for the 4th of July. Hope to see everyone out and about.
