OPEN STUDIOS 2015 1
“Once again artists and makers from Cheltenham and its
surrounds have come together to open their studios in a
glorious celebration of the visual arts; inviting us to catch a
glimpse of the fascinating spaces in which they work.
This is a fabulously fertile county, which has long nurtured
the creative spirits within it and we are blessed with the
wonderful opportunity to meet these artists and see
diversity of beautiful things.”
PJ Crook, Patron, Cheltenham Open Studios
A huge welcome to COS15. This is the ninth time the practitioners of the visual arts in and around Cheltenham have reopened their doors for this celebration event. Over the years, more artists, using an ever-wider range of media and styles, have joined in.
The Wilson, Cheltenham’s Art Gallery and Museum (venue 20) is hosting a number of special COS15 events, for all ages and interests. Details of the workshops, demonstrations, children’s art activities and exhibitions can be found in this Guide.
Visiting working studios is a truly informative way to learn how and why artists do what they do. You will also be able to purchase works direct from the person who created it, making the transaction personal and your item meaningful.
At The Hub (venue 6) and Little Buckland (venue 55) you can buy specially commissioned 5" x 5" pieces from the participants. Each piece costs just £5 with all proceeds going to COS.
We hope you will take advantage of this special time in the Cheltenham calendar: have a look through the brochure and plan your trail. Please enjoy.
