CHATEAU LA DOUCE MEDOC Rouge (Red) Ownership & history: Cédric Perez might have grown up in the Médoc, but wine was not his natural destiny. His father was a mechanic and his mother was a housewife. However, in 2006, an attraction to farming led him to buy land in the village of Saint-Yzans-de-Médoc. He developed two activities: winemaking and rearing salt marsh lamb. Today he has two hecatares of AOC Médoc vines and a flock of 600 AOC Agneau de Pauillac sheep. Vineyard & location: The vines are young, having only been planted in 2003. The soil is composed of clay and limestone. There are plans to develop the vineyard into the neighbouring village of Ordonnac, and by the end of 2016 there should be six hectares in total, with the goal being ten hectares by 2020. Harvest, vinification & ageing: Traditional Bordeaux vinification, with the aim being to respect the fruit and let it express itself as naturally as possible. Tasting: The 100% Merlot blend here makes for a juicy wine with flavours of chocolate and cherry. The soft fruit means that the wine tastes great at a young age. Vintage: 2015 Blend: 100% Merlot Cellaring potential: 5 to 10 years Imported by Citadel Trading Corp., 1123 Broadway, Suite 614, New York, NY 10010
