a decision by the state police to not investigate theinvolvement o Latvian banks in an alleged multi-million dollar Russian tax raud made public by SergeiMagnitsky, the amed lawyer who died in detention inRussia in 2009. Serbia’s Interior Ministry has banned a gay parade,scheduled or October 6th,

as well as any related events to the parade. Te state citedsecurity concerns as the only reason or cancelling theparade. Civil Rights activists are not convinced, whilestate ofcials reminded that hundreds o people wereinjured by anti-gay groups in the 2010 parade.

Macedonian oppositionparties led by the SocialDemocrats have begun the

process o calling or a no-condence vote. Te oppositionhas criticized the ruling party or ailing to deal withthe deteriorating economic situation in the country andinstead ocusing on ethnic issues. Despite this, expertsexpect the government to survive.
