experience of God. In the singing of hymns, we are

able to exalt the mystery of God’s abundant grace and, at the same

moment, find our own spirits becoming attuned to God’s spirit.

Broad in scope, Celebrating Grace Hymnal includes traditional hymns, new hymns, congregational songs, scripture songs, worship readings, scripture, and extensive indices. With more than 600 hymns included in the pew edition, the beautifully bound hymnal also features extensive online and companion worship resources. The ProcessCreating Celebrating Grace Hymnal

began as a grassroots approach to developing and designing a hymnal. The goal was to be open to new ideas for meeting the resource needs of churches today. The team of editors brought together creative minds and listened to what was needed. A distinguished team of ministers of music, pastors, church music scholars, and laity was assembled and has participated in every aspect of the project. The result is an outstanding collection of hymns and worship resources.

hyMns

Each hymn was reviewed for its musical contribution, theological soundness, and poetic expression. The editors set high standards for the music, texts, support materials, and production to match their commitment to vibrant congregational singing. The selection process began with the editors listening to the needs of hundreds of churches across the nation. Ministers of music and pastors developed the initial core collection for consideration. A second invitation went to churches, composers, and musicians to seek new materials. The response was thousands of submissions. After countless hours of careful review and thoughtful discussion, the editors, with the contributions of the committee members, selected more than 600 hymns.

sCriptural readings

Responsive readings and litanies were prepared by pastors, church music ministers, and theological scholars who share a deep love for scripture and for the actions of congregations as they speak and contemplate together in worship.

Hymns are rarely meant simply to instruct. Their power lies in enabling us to join our hearts and to lift our spirits in a celebration of God’s

abundant and enduring grace.

The keyboard accompaniment edition comes in a three-ring binder, which allows musicians to organize the music to their preference. The 8 ½" x 11" pages significantly increase the size of the notes and text. The layout is the same as the pew edition.

large print edition

The large print edition, with 8 ½" x 11" pages, comes in a three- ring binder which allows church leaders the ability to provide only the needed pages for the worship service. Senior adults and the visually impaired can benefit from this manageable resource and more easily read the printed page.

the hyMns: faMiliar & fresh

Featuring more than 600 hymns, Celebrating Grace Hymnal was developed to enrich congregational worship through song. Each page has been concisely crafted for a clean appearance.

This hymnal offers congregations and church musicians the

opportunity to sing the songs of many eras and cultures along with

treasured and familiar hymns.

elebrating Grace Hymnal enriches congregational worship through word and song. A major portion of the Hymnal is

organized according to the structure of a worship service from Gathering to Departing. In addition, the themes of Baptism, Lord’s Supper, Family, and Prayer have been more extensively developed than in some hymnals. Also included are sections on Seasons of Life and Commemorations. The large section God the Son – The Incarnate One follows the Christian Year, which is based on the life of Christ.
