Invitation to God’s Word

Call to Worship Pastor O magnify the Lord with me and let’s exalt God’s name together.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Church And also with you.

Pastor My soul thirsts for you, O God. Church Lord, be my provision. Pastor We are without comfort and are lost. Church Lord, be our guide. Pastor Your people long to know your hope. Church Lord, be our song. We come to worship you, Lord of all!

Prayer of Invitation

Hymn of Invitation What a Friend We Have in Jesus UMH 526

Prayer of Confession

Lord of all, the nations are yours. The poor are your treasured ones— widows, orphans, the aliens you protect. Your justice reigns over all. Forgive us when our ways devour your ways. We don’t mean to cause harm, yet we do. Forgive us when we consume more than our fair share, all the while knowing that our excesses deny the poor the things they need to live. Forgive us for building bigger closets, and not clothing the naked. Your justice reigns over all. Forgive us when our ways devour your ways. We pray in the forgiving name of Jesus. Amen.

Words of Assurance

We long to mend our ways. Christ can bear these sins for all who eagerly wait for him. His sacrifice on our behalf, his grace toward us, washes us anew. Praise the Lord. Amen.

Responding to God’s Word

Hymn of Commitment Go, Make of All Disciples UMH 571

Affirmation of Faith Caring for God’s Word

We believe that the Holy Spirit guides us into the paths of caring for the world that God loves, and inspires us to live on this lovely planet in harmony and peace with all that lives and breathes. Amen

Anthem

Pastoral Prayers and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Offertory Prayer

Sermon “Feed the Birds” Rev. Randall Haase

What a Friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged, Take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness, Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge— Take it to the Lord in prayer; Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer; In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there.

1 Open my eyes, that I may see glimpses of truth you have for me; place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unlock and set me free. Silently now, on bended knee, ready I wait your will to see; open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine! 2 Open my ears, that I may hear voices of truth you send so clear; and while the message sounds in my ear, everything false will disappear. Silently now, on bended knee, ready I wait your will to see; open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine!

3 Open my mouth, and let me bear gladly the warm truth everywhere; open my heart, and let me prepare love with your children thus to share. Silently now, on bended knee, ready I wait your will to see; open my heart, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Go make of all disciples We hear the call O Lord That comes from Thee our Father In Thy eternal Word Inspire our ways of learning Through earnest fervent prayer And let our daily living Reveal Thee everywhere Go make of all disciples Baptizing in the name Of Father Son and Spirit From age to age the same We call each new disciple To follow Thee O Lord Redeeming soul and body By water and the Word

Go make of all disciples We at Thy feet would stay Until each life's vocation Accents Thy holy way We cultivate the nature God plants in every heart Revealing in our witness The Master Teacher's art Go make of all disciples We welcome Thy command Lo I am with you always We take Thy guiding hand The task looms large before us We follow without fear In heaven and earth Thy power Shall bring God's kingdom here
