The award-winning Cross extending table by Matthew

Hilton is a fine example of advanced wood

manufacturing techniques. The simple lines of this

modern design creates a distinctly timeless piece

which is practical and adaptable.

Made from a solid wood base, with a veneered top, it

has two extendable leaves to fit the entire family. As

its smallest, the table can seat upto 8 people. Fully

extended, with both leaves inserted, it can seat 12.

This contemporary table is comfortably large, yet

retains a visual balance due to the proportions of the

table top. The functional design of the base is sturdy,

handsome and built for everyday use.

The Cross extending table received the Elle

Decoration Award for Best in Furniture in 2006, won

the Homes & Gardens Classic Design Award in 2007

and was awarded the coveted Design Guild Mark in

2008.

Dimensions

The contemporary Bridge table is a notably

expressive piece, a fine example of British designer

Matthew Hilton’s ability to imbue his designs with

both functional necessity and feeling.

It has solid oak or walnut-stained ash legs with a

walnut or oak veneered top. The table has gently

tapered legs with an outward facing curvature, the

supporting frame arcs underneath the elliptical

table top like a bridge, creating both leg room and the

signature look of the piece.

Dimensions

Part of the Oki-Nami range, this round table

compliments the detailing and proportions of the Oki-

Nami chair. The circular under frame gives the table

a simple silhouette. This echoes the Japanese style

ethos that was the inspiration for the design.

The table can comfortably seat 4 people and has an

integrated Lazy Susan turntable in the centre, which

makes sharing dishes a lot easier. The legs are solid

oak with a veneered top.

The Oki-Nami collection was designed as a bespoke

product for the Oki-Nami Japanese restaurant in

Brighton, UK. Nazanin Kamali designed the interior

of the restaurant and worked with Case to create the

tables, chairs and stools. The chair was Shortlisted

Bill Amberg is filled with closed-cell foam which mould

and sculpt to your body enveloping you amongst the

soft, sumptuous leather or felt.

A carefully considered balance of filling composition

ensures maximum comfort whilst retaining structure.

Encased within the leather shell, which is a shrunken

bull-hide reduced during the tanning process to show

the textures, is the foam which softens the seat and

back whilst the shape remains to support you.

The closed-cell foam is over varying densities which

are suited to the pressure points throughout the seat.

A design that has truly stood the test of time, the 675

chair is one of the most recognised of the Twentieth

Century. Originally created in 1952, the chair’s most

prominent feature is its curved walnut-veneered

plywood back. Pioneering at the time, Robin Day

overcame the difficulty of forming a single

moulded plywood chair with armrests, by creating

a bent shape using a singular curve rather than the

obvious double curve.

In close collaboration with the Robin and Lucienne

Day Foundation, Case has revised the dimensions of

the chair, making the 2014 version slightly smaller and

more compact - as it was originally designed to be.

The chair back, available in walnut veneer, offers an

accentuated curve making the dip marginally deeper

to form more of a point. The chair legs are available

in either chrome or black, and a piping detail has also

been introduced to the black leather seat pad.

Part of the Oki-Nami range, this modern chair was

originally designed for the Oki-Nami Japanese

restaurant in Brighton, UK in 2008. The brief was to

create contemporary tables, chairs and stools that

reflected the craftsmanship, proportion and

attention to detail found in Japanese creative

industries, it also needed to be suitably comfortable

and durable enough for its intended restaurant

environment.

Nazanin Kamali designed the interior of the restaurant

and worked with Case to create the tables, chairs and

stools. The chair was Shortlisted for the Restaurant

and Bar Design Awards in 2009.

The signature wrap around back is naturally used as

an armrest and remains supportive when sitting side

simple design, which takes its influence from Japan

Loku Chair by Shin Azumi


Japanese designer Shin Azumi created the Loku

making good use of the efficient methods of

advanced three dimensional (3D) veneer technology,

which allows the seat to be moulded into more

West Street Chair by Robin Day

The West Street chair is a pared-down design based

on a simple cube shape. The result of a challenge

that designer Robin Day took on to create a chair with

the simplest form, the West Street chair started life as

a personal project. Named after the home Robin and

Lucienne Day moved to in 1999, the chair was taken

on by Case as a simple desk or occasional chair.

“There’s this very vulnerable planet of ours with finite

resources. Architects and designers have, I think, a

fair responsibility for conserving energy and materials,

and making things durable.” Robin Day

The solid wood frame has two upholstered leather

pads that act as the seat and the back with the back

pad angled slightly for extra comfort.
