Summary
California Dreamin’
The California is that iconic-bike of the brand Moto Guzzi and connect Italian elegance and American nonchalance for half a century. Lovers from all over the world enjoy the soundtrack of the prominent, transverse build-in V2 cylindric and swear by the awareness of life, which is situated somewhere between Easy Rider and the sun of California.
The story of success starts less romantic as a company bike of Italian authority, which is purchased with little modifications by Los Angeles Police Department in 1968. But what proves itself in the tough service day can not be quite inappropriate for the weekend bikers with the urge of freedom and so the civil version became a big hit to all touring rider.
Initially the authors tell the whole story of the “Cali“ – from the first prototype of the V7 Police Special up to the futuristic MGX-21. Technical drawings, design studies and numerous, partly never showed factory and personal shots, portray not only the evolution of this unique model range but rather the oldest European motorcycle factory at Comer See.

#PorschePur
… is the name of the series of pictures, with which author Jörg Walz established a very unique visual vocabulary on Instagram and already has gathered a huge fan base. Infected with the Porsche virus from very early age, he fell in love with the miniature scale of 1:43, which despite their tiny size can be built in extreme detail. But the special twist of this book are the pictures: they have been taken in such “real life scenario” that one would think the very rare 550 Spyder has been parked at the edge of some road. And one isn’t astonished in the slightest that the author managed to have exclusive racing cars in front of his photographer’s lens. In addition, the experienced author, car tester and Porsche lover Walz supplies the reader with interesting facts embedded in entertaining texts.
A book to rummage and to dream on, for fans of car brands and miniature cars alike.

Summary
The first comprehensive homage to the R and RS models – a must-have for 911 loveRS!
At auctions they rack up premium prices: the Porsche 911 R and RS models. But the makers never intended to create objects of speculation for maximum profit, but vehicles that would appeal to customers because of their uncompromising sportiness. Customers who take their 911ers to the tracks and willingly do without useless things such as radio and air conditioning.
In 1967 the story begins with the first Porsche 911 R, achieving five new long-distance world records in Monza. And it does not end with the latest 911 R of the 991 series, that is quite aware of its history with its racing stripes, houndstooth bucket seats, manual gear change, and a free-revving naturally aspirated engine. In between lie 50 years, numerous models, and a legion of fans, among them Herbert von Karajan, Patrick Dempsey und Jerry Seinfeld .

Summary
Le Mans 911er resurrected
Just like off the production line: After an intensive search in the USA, the Porsche 911 2.5 S/T from 1972 has been found and restored in the minutest detail. A photo, that was taken several years ago, does no longer match reality. Back then, the shape of the historic 911er was correctly described as “scrap heap“. In about two and a half years, several Porsche experts accomplished a magnificent masterpiece – finally presenting the 911er from San Francisco in historic shape.
This Porsche 911 2.5 S/T, with chassis number 911 230 0538, was at the 1972 World Sportscar Championship and also became class winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1972 the team of Michael “Mike“ Keyser and Jürgen Barth participated in the long-distance race world championship in the USA, the 6 hours of Daytona, then the 12 hours of Sebring, followed by the Targa Florio and the 1000-kilometre race at the Nürburgring. Highlight of the season was the 24 Hours of Le Mans. More races followed. At the Targa Florio the rare car was even used as a dolly – that is, with cameras in the front and back, to shoot scenes for the film “The Speed Merchants“ that would be released later on.
Thomas Imhof started as a reporter at the racetracks of the world. In 1996 he started his own editorial office in Essen. He currently works for various newspapers, classics and design magazines as well as online media. He also is an author of books and translator. Imhofs first car was a VW Beetle, a 1302 S. In 1978 he drove with his Beetle to Le Mans – as a fan.

Summary In the late 1950’s Porsche started to think about a follow-up model to the Porsche prototype, the 356. This process took longer than expected for two reasons. On the one hand the 356 still sold very well. On the other hand various models were developed until the right design for the successor was found – bearing the hallmarks of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. After the premiere of the 901 at the IAA in Frankfurt in 1963 it took almost one year until Peugeot took notice of the new model from Zuffenhausen: the French company had exclusive rights to car names with three-digits and a zero in the middle. From the contents That is why the model name 901 was in use just for a short while, soon it was renamed 911. According to the official version no 901 had been sold to private individuals – Porsche scrapped most of the 82 vehicles and sold the rest to the employees. Until today little is known about this exquisite predecessor of a legendary production series. The book „Porsche 901“ tries to describe the vehicles that started the myth of the 911. One of its highlights is the story about a 901 that was found in a barn in California. The process of the careful restoration is extensively documented. This car has been presented to the public in autumn 2010. Jürgen Lewandowski, author of numerous titles published by Delius Klasing, created a book that is as exclusive as the Porsche 901 when it went into production.
After having studied German and English language and literature, Jürgen Lewandowski worked for magazines such as “Auto, Motor & Sport” before settling for Munich, where he now acts as the department manager for cars and traffic at the newspaper “Süddeutsche Zeitung”. Lewandowski has initiated, written and supervised around 90 books that deal with the history of automobiles.

Summary
To the present day, the Porsche 959 is regarded as one of the most exceptional vehicles in automotive history: a technical marvel with its all-wheel drive, a refined bi-turbo engine, 450 PS and a top speed of 315 km/h – still breath-taking 30 years after its first roll-out. The idea behind this tour de force was to build a Porsche that fitted the new Group B regulations just established in 1983: the Group B Porsche. The regulations demanded just 200 vehicles for the homologation, that is why Porsche was able to turn the technological knowledge of that time into a super Porsche equally suitable for the race track and for rallies – which was the intention of the new racing car series. Apart from the races, the homologation vehicles were also meant to go to private owners for the use in road traffic. The Porsche 959 excelled in all of the tasks
From the contents
Jürgen Lewandowski witnessed the development of the Porsche 959 more than 30 years ago and describes the difficult birth of the super car including the three Paris-Dakar rallies and the Le Mans race. A fascinating boxed set with three volumes on different topics: technical data, history, and a large-format illustrated book that shows the 959 genesis including all derivatives and new photos of the most beautiful specimen. After 30 years, this comprehensive work presents even the minutest details, it comments on events in the past, and contemporary witnesses have their say – all in all it is a literary monument to the Porsche 959.
Author Jürgen Lewandowski and this book have a special connection: in 1985 Prof. Helmuth Bott, Head of Technology of the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, commissioned him to supervise the development of the 959. Thus, he could watch the work of engineers and test drivers and collect the first-hand knowledge, which he now passes on with this book.

Hours for eternity
Endurance races are the supreme discipline in motorsports. Several times per year, the best race drivers worldwide are on the tracks for 24 hours. The 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and in Daytona are the toughest tests for man and material – Le Mans as the third run is the icon among the legendary races. In recent years, Porsche sets standards in the endurance race world championship – with perfection and passion.
Star photographer Frank Kayser and his team observed the delicate and deeply exhausting work of the Porsche team for three years. The world-famous photographer was allowed where other press photographers are not: in the pit, in the pit lane during the change of tyres and drivers, in the closed off areas of the racers‘ quarters. His photos show the stress, the top performance, the eternal night, and the success of perfection.
From the contents
Frank Kayser presents photos of a world yet unknown, Heike Hientzsch sketches the participants‘ emotions:
• The tension in the pit, in the hidden team lounge
• The passion of the fans, the self-abandonment of the mechanics
• Unseen perspectives of the track
• The beauty of the tracks close to nature
• Surprisingly deep background information
For years now author Heike Hientzsch works for the Porsche press staff. The renowned journalist knows the feeling of tension minutes before the start, when exhaustion befalls the pit, when seconds count at the pit stop, and how drivers keep fit during the 24-hour race.

By someone who took of to see the world
Already in his childhood, Jürgen Schultz felt the urge to leave the density of his Swabian homeland, to explore the world. But while most of his contemporaries hitchhiked with their backpacks through European countries in the seventies, for Jürgen Schultz that was not enough. It had to be the legendary “Hippie-Trail“. The choice of the transportation was not difficult: A VW bus has been the nonpareil, because “with a VW bus you were not just a hippie. With the Bulli you were the super-hippie!“
This is how Jürgen Schultz remembers a turbulent time, in which he drove to India several times and came to Goa and Nepal. One of his travel vehicles, a bulli from 1956, is still there, and so is Jürgen Schultz, who has told Heiko P. Wacker an almost incredible wealth of stories, adventures and anecdotes. Garnished with exciting insights into his private photo album, a time awakes to life, which meanwhile became a legend.

• Exciting travelogue through countries, which are partly impassable today
• The Bulli as iconic fellow traveller
• Numerous private photos out of true-life
• Insights in the Hippie-Trail – by one who was really there

Summary
Heritage on Wheels
On 29th January 2016 the last Land Rover Defender left the factory halls in Solihull (UK) – a Defender 90 Soft Top with heritage outfit and went directly to the Jaguar Land Rover Collection exhibition. With this, a great story of success ended: the most original of all Land Rover models had been in mass production for 68 years. In 1948 it was developed for agricultural use, but the robustness of the all-wheel drive vehicle got round quickly. The demand was never decreasing and there were always new versions and engines. Today, 75 percent of all “Landies” ever built are still in use – worldwide of course.
This declaration of love to the British classic presents portraits of all Land Rover generations and of their most passionate owners. Magnificent new photos and pleasant texts guarantee an enjoyable reading experience from front to back. And we learn about the all-round use of a car – from a wine-growing estate in South Africa to the urban jungle in Germany to the world trip vehicle in India.
From the contents
Fascinating Landy love stories from around the world:
• Portrait of the last Land Rover Defender
• Landies as mobile cafés
• Iceland tours, crossings of the Alps, and the „Land Rover Experience“ tour
• Land Rovers used by the police and the fire brigade
• Long-term relationships and globetrotters: faithful Landy owners talk about their adventures.

Summary
Kapitän, Admiral, Diplomat, Manta, Monza – many Opels have illustrious names and thrilling designs. But there is just one true legend of the brand with the flash: the GT. For generations of drivers the sports coupé is an eye-catcher, milestone, cult, and dream. It is regarded as the most sensational Opel ever. And as an example for today’s models – especially the GT Concept, which premiered at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2016.
From the contents
Authors Harald Hamprecht and Jens Cooper, both GT drivers, went through the corporation‘s archive and contemporary sources, spent uncountable hours with experts and fans, contemporary witnesses too, who played a crucial role in the GT’s development – especially GT designer Erhard Schnell, who does not see himself as the father but as the “son of the GT”. Exclusively for this book, he came up with new sketches of the GT.
The authors tell gripping stories about fans of the sleepy-eyed beauty from all over the world – from the USA to Italy to Australia. They take the reader on a journey with the coke bottle coupé – on dreamlike routes.

Summary
Barn finds are currently rather trendy in the world of old bodies. But the phenomenon is not a new one: Ever since there was a classic car scene, treasure hunters always liked it best, when they came across remnants of interesting classic cars in an overgrown barn or in a remote property. It does not matter whether they can get the discovery into running order again. It is enough to dream about the possibility and what it would be like …
From the contents
This beautifully designed illustrated book presents the discoveries of Heribert Niehues. Since decades, the avowed fan of classic cars travels the USA and finds sensational car wrecks – again and again. His atmospheric photographs show how they become one with the rough landscapes of the Wild West or the rich green of the Deep South if they have enough time. But cars are not always the main aspect: accompanying fuel stations and motels which were left behind but still wear an aura of the good old times. They too found their way into this book, the first of its kind in Germany.
The Mechanical Engineering Technician Heribert Niehues discovered his love for photography more than 40 years ago. The first SLR camera was followed by a proper darkroom, before adjusting for digital photography. Heribert Niehues was awarded with several prices for his perfectly arranged photographs, which were published in notable magazines and books.

Summary
When death was still behind each curve, racers were obviously carved out of a harder wood than today. For their passion (and sometimes just for the money) they risked everything. No one in the paddock of the drivers knew if they would meet again after a race, the training or a test drive. The loss of good friends belonged to the racer sports for far too long.
This unique and emotional book gives insight why so many men exercised this dangerous but also fascinating sport. By telling emotional and detailed stories about the dramatic living and dying of racer legends, it shows the development of racer sports, including hitherto unknown background information.
From the contents
The authors tell about well and less known people, who gave their lives for the race sports, like: Jochen Rindt, Ayrton Senna, Jim Clark, Ricardo und Pedro Rodríguez, Jo Siffert, Gilles Villeneuve – and these are just a few of them.
Stories about the partially bad safety on the race tracks, the rudimentary medical care, the experimentally car constructions – and the arrogant organizers, who started the races even under the most adverse weather conditions.

Ferdi Kräling is one of the the best-known motorsport photographers worldwide. In four decades, he photographed about 2000 races. He is one of the very few who have visited more than 500 Grand Prix competitions.
Elmar Brümmer belongs to the most distinguished German motorsport journalists. He regularly publishes reportages and portraits in major German newspapers and magazines.

Summary
Steve McQueen – actor, filmmaker, racing driver. And friend. Siegfried Rauch, who plays the unyielding rival in the film classic “Le Mans” was a close friend in real life. He takes us through this book and, for the first time, tells us how it was. What McQueen was like, when he ate sauerkraut at the Rauch’s or played with their children. How he became their godfather. That the “king of cool” could be quite a normal person who fell in love with the Bavarian town. And understood, that Rauch did not want to go to Hollywood.
But the other stars of “Le Mans” have their say as well: the real racing drivers. Herbert Linge reminisces about the Porsche 908 that he drove as a dolly during the race – which belonged to McQueen. Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood tell about their victory in the Porsche 917 – the first Porsche overall victory at the Sarthe. Stuntman Dr. Erich Glavitza, who also prepared the cars, explains what happened in 1970 during the shooting in “Solar Village”. Or David Piper, who lost a leg during the production.
This unique book offers completely new insights: • Interviews with many contemporary witnesses • Pictures of original Siegfried Rauch mementos, such as race
overall and helmet from the film • Photos from Rauch‘s family album, showing him with Steve
McQueen • Original photos of the film set and of rare documents • A lap of the race track of Le Mans 1970 and today This book gives you the chance to be close to racing in 1970, the stars and the drama!

Summary
United through the kingdom
Once again the Motorliebe boys rev up their Vespas PX 200 from the eighties and follow in the footsteps of the 1960s mods whose favourite means of transport was the scooter too. Readers can look forward to an illustrated book full of anecdotes, which is as good as its predecessors. It paints a strong picture of the land as it is: by descriptions of the routes, the journey, and numerous interviews. The chapters depict the tour, no repair is kept secret, and those who want to travel the route themselves find specific information on coordinates, elevation gain, gradients, and fuel and oil consumption.
With its third volume the successful series “Around the world by Vespa“ arrives in Great Britain. In the first part the small scooters crossed the USA, in the second part they explored the contrast between fire and ice in Iceland – and so with every journey the authors get closer to their distant goal – Japan.

Summary
Vespa – a feeling without restrictions. No envy. No limits.
The volcanic island Iceland is not quite at the centre of attention, it neither belongs to America nor to Europe, it is inhabited by trolls and elves and knows Vespas only from the Internet. That is because Icelands climate and roads are better suited for 44-fans – a fact, that makes a Vespa tour all the more interesting.
The authors, going by the name “Team Motorliebe“ (motor love), describe their Vespa trip around the island in a charming and funny way and with loads of photos from Vespas in Icelandic landscapes. But the people of Iceland have their say too: Some Icelanders are featured in interviews.
For those who want to do the trip themselves, “Iceland on a Vespa“ offers descriptions of the routes and the journey. Seven chapters include each repair, the specific coordinates, information on elevation gain and gradients, fuel and oil consumption.
From the contents:
• Unique road story around Iceland with funny encounters
• Charming travel book for Vespa drivers
• Numerous anecdotes for Iceland fans
• Wonderful locations from Reykjavík to the Westfjords

Summary
Three friends in their middle years are looking for adventure. So they set out for an unusual journey: As “Team Motorliebe“ (motor love), they ride across the USA on three old Vespas. Starting in L.A., they are heading for New York City. About 9000 km of narrow roads, vast planes, unknown places, glittering cities. Just 10 PS take the three through the third-biggest country of the world: they meet slightly mad but nice people, fight wind force and monster trucks, get lost in Indian reservations, and are soothed by landscapes most of us only know from postcards. Their adventure has got a very special rhythm, consisting of 2-stroke engines of their three Vespas PX 200 from the eighties. With their special paintwork (one with US colours, an “ Italian“ Vespa and one in Japanese design) they drive an average of 80 km, on a good day maybe 100 per day. Each leg is described; none of the numerous repairs is left out. Who wants to embark on the same route, also finds route and journey descriptions including the specific coordinates as well as information on elevation gain and gradients, fuel and oil consumption.
This road story is the marking stone of a brand new travel experience: Around the world by Vespa!

Summary
When people say “life’s a journey”, some take this aphorism more literally than others. Christopher Many embarked on an overland trip in 1997, believing he’d spend no more than a year or two on the road. Well, that didn’t quite work out as planned – 19 years have passed, and he’s still somewhere out there, doing what he loves most: circumnavigating the globe with vehicles of questionable reliability in a quest to understand, through first-hand experience, what makes humanity “tick”.
From the contents:
“Right Beyond the Horizon” tells the gripping tale of Christopher’s latest voyage between 2012 and 2016: a motorcycle adventure from Germany to Australia, together with his partner Laura Pattara, who had no previous experience on two wheels. Their modern-day odyssey follows the ancient Silk Road from Europe to Central Asia, then across the Pamir Mountains into China, where Christopher and Laura become the first overlanders with a foreign vehicle to obtain legal permission to transit the Middle Kingdom unescorted. Four years later they reach the harbour of Denpasar on the Indonesian island of Bali – the gateway to Australia and terminus of the classic trans-Asia overland route.
Christopher Many always felt a certain attraction towards the world “beyond the horizon”. Alternating between working and traveling, Many explored the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Australia. In 1997 he set off on his first motorbike world trip and rode from Germany to New Zealand via India. Three years later he returned to Europe and began to save up funds for his next adventure: a round-the-world voyage with an ailing Land Rover. What will happen next is anybody’s guess.

Summary
Big cars, big dreams
If you do not have the money, you still have your dreams. That does not only go for luxury cars, but especially for them: Dream cars, other than dream castles, are not rooted to the spot – they move around the country, presenting themselves, leaving beating hearts and envious looks behind.
What was regarded as a dream car then, still is today – or is again. Collectors and aficionados value quality and style, experienced hobby mechanics the tough and maintenance friendly technology. Today as well as back then, they make eyes sparkle: BMW 501 and 502, Borgward P100 and H2400 S/Pullmann, Opel Kapitän, Mercedes 220 and 300 …
From the contents
With many contemporary photos and illustrations this finely designed volume commemorates dream vehicles of the early fifties. Back then they represented the temptations of social advancement, today they are loved for their technological solidity and timeless elegance.
The very successful series “Turbulent times“ looks back to the postwar decades, focusing on the motorisation of traffic. It combines a hearty dash of nostalgia with profound knowledge of the history of technology.

Their serial production started in 1950 in the Swabian Allgaier-factory and was later transferred to Friedrichshafen. Up until 1963, this was the place all kinds of tractors known under the name of Porsche Diesel were fabricated.

From the contents
“Volkswagen Models“ shows how hugely Volkswagen widened its product range over the last decades. On the one hand this was due to the wish to have a fitting model for each car driver, and on the other hand Volkswagen reacted to the requirements of the world market that constantly demands more innovative and eco friendly vehicles.
Bernd Wiersch describes all “family members“ to the point: Lupo and Fox as well as Golf and Touran up to Corrado and Phaeton. Moreover, he includes the special models that came out in the same period of time.
Solid information and numerous detailed tables make this book an enjoyable reading experience that Volkswagen enthusiasts – and future fans – will not want to miss.
Bernd Wiersch worked as an archivist of business history for Volkswagen AG and witnessed the development of its cars first hand. He has published a series of automobile historic books specialised on Volkswagen history with books such as “Die Käfer Chronik” and “Der VW Bulli”.
