Have mercy on us and on the whole world, according to the good-ness and wisdom of your Sacred Heart. Please bless Pope Francis and all the bishops, and oth-ers, who will take part in the coming Synod. Let your saving word shine out with clarity and your divine compassion flow with abundance, on and through the Synod. Please bless our diocese and all our families. We ask this in your Name, O Jesus, who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.

  • May 3, 2015 - 5th Sunday of Easter One In Christ

Acts 9:26-31 Saul testifies in Jerusalem following his conversion. Psalm 22 I will praise you, Lord, in the assembly of your people. 1 John 3:18-24 Those who are in Christ love in deed and in truth. John 15:1-8 I am the vine, you are the branches.

Jesus said, I am the vine and you are the branches. When Je-sus used this example from the vineyard, he was talking to agrarian listeners who immedi-ately saw the connec-

tion and understood what he meant. Today, Jesus might have used another example from our age. He could have said, I am the light socket; you are the bulb or I am the electrical out-let and you are the plug. Unless we connect to him, we dont give off light, and we have no power. -- Dc. Dick Folger Next Weeks Readings Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48 Peter preaches to the gentiles. Psalm 98 God revealed to the nations his saving power. 1 John 4:7-10 Gods love calls us to love one an-other. John 15:9-17 Love one another as I have loved you.
