Originating in the 15th century, Cadels are beautifully dec-orated letters that are a delight to the eye yet deceptively simple to create. In this evening program, we will look at samples of both historic and contemporary Cadels. Next, we will have a chance to learn some basic patterns. From this exercise we see how to use a base letter and transform it into a Cadel.

January 17 Meeting: Cadels with Kathy Barker

Meetings in Winter-Spring 2019

A Touch of Gold - Different sur-faces such as wood, paper and even chocolate become extraordinary when gilded. We will make a gift tag, place card and greeting card using gold leaf and gold inks & powders.

February 21 Meeting: Brigitte Hefferan

March 21 Meeting: Cathy Shiovitz with Collage Compositions

Join Cathy in recycling old practice sheets, painted papers and other materials in creating a new artwork while exploring the fundamentals of design. It can be a simple or complicated treasure hunt to find the right piece for a spot.

Start collecting a selection of old practice pa-pers (ones with bolder writing are best); maga-zine scraps (especially black and white); paint-ed papers, tissue, old letters or photos, maps to use.
