Just ask the Spielman clan, a wonderful extended family that could have chosen from plenty of Passover hotels in the Northeast, but instead have an almost unbroken record of traveling south to Ramah Darom. “One of the truly wonderful things about Ramah Darom is how it facilitates the coming together of generations,” Yael Spielman says.“In our family, we’ve had three generations join us for the holiday. Cousins we really don’t get to see during the year have joined us. Ramah Darom allows me to actually enjoy my family on Passover. We all migrate to Clayton for Pesach, settle down in adjoining rooms, and enjoy one another’s company!” The Spielmans love the informality of camp combined with top-tier facilities and strict Kosher for Passover supervision.“Ramah Darom provides the perfect balance: You can go to shul. You can play basketball or do yoga. You can study with great scholars. You can play mahjong. You can eat really good food. You are in the heart of beautiful mountains in a simple natural setting and yet, you are sleeping in a comfortable bed with a good shower. The people are great, the price is right. It just doesn’t get much better than Ramah Darom for Passover.” With 11 years of hosting families for Passover, Ramah Darom definitely has its share of “group- ies,”even among the rabbis. In 2012 for the third year in a row, Rabbi Harold Kushner will be a visiting scholar, along with his family. Rabbi Bradley Shavit Artson from the American Jewish University will be there with his family, along with Rabbi Joel Roth from The Jewish Theologi- cal Seminary, making Passover 2012 an incredible trifecta of rabbinic wisdom. It’s no surprise that Passover at Ramah Darom frequently sells out. Word of mouth and a loyal base of returning families make it a hot ticket for people from the Southeast and as far away as Israel, Chicago, Texas, California and Canada.
