Throughout its 102-year-history Cardinal Gibbons has off ered students a unique academic experience — one enhanced by Catholic traditions, invigorated by intellectual innovation, and inspired by a legacy of service. Whether taking AP, Honors or College-Prep courses online or in the classroom, learning about their faith or living it, exploring technology or assisting the needy, students learn not only life lessons but lessons for life, enabling them to succeed in college and in an ever-changing world.

We are a united community of individuals who are encouraged to try new things and step out of our comfort zones. “One aft ernoon in AP Chemistry class, we were learning about atoms and the electron cloud, and Sister Janet commented on how incredible it is that the unit called an “atom” is hardly a unit at all, that everything we call “solid”—including ourselves—is composed of something that is constantly and unpredictably moving. “It’s really a miracle,” she said, and smiled. In that moment, I felt so blessed to be at a school like Cardinal Gibbons, where an ordinary academic lesson can suddenly become an invitati on to think about God. In Sister Janet and all of our other Gibbons teachers, we are blessed with people who not only strive for us to succeed at a very high academic level, but who also have deep faith and a reverence for the miraculousness of what they are teaching us.”

Through a diverse curriculum that blends creative and critical inquiry with artistic excellence, passion, and performance the Fine Arts program is an integral part of the fabric of Cardinal Gibbons. From the classroom and studio to the stage and concert hall, the arts engage students’ imagination, enliven their spirit, and embrace their sense of collaboration, while numerous arts events that take place each year enrich the larger community beyond Gibbons.

It’s an impressive achievement — winning 10 Wachovia Cups for all-around sports excellence in the last 11 years. But what truly distinguishes Athletics at Cardinal Gibbons is how it nurtures the mind, body and spirit. Through 36 Varsity and JV sports teams and service activities inside and outside school, Gibbons Athletics instills teamwork, perseverance and leadership skills within its participants, empowering them to reach their full potential as students, athletes, and citizens in church and community.

Cardinal Gibbons embraces families and partners with them through the Family Association to contribute to the quality of education, student life and spirit of our school.
