The 2020-2021 Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program

The U.S. Embassy Hanoi and the U.S. Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City is pleased to announce the 2020-2021 Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program. Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright TEA Program provides middle and high school teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States. Complete applications must be submitted ONLINE no later than March 16, 2020.

Program Overview

The Fulbright TEA Program consists of a six‐week non‐degree, non‐credit customized academic program including seminars on new teaching methodologies, curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional technology. Participants will also participate in a practicum in a U.S. secondary school near the host university to work closely with U.S. teachers and teach and present to U.S. students. Cultural enrichment, mentoring, and support will be provided throughout the program.

The international participants will travel to the United States in either spring of 2021 or fall of 2021. Up to five teachers will be selected from Vietnam for this program.

All participant costs, including program administration, international and domestic travel and ground transportation, housing and subsistence, health insurance, and book, cultural, mailing and incidental allowances will be sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

Selection Process and Criteria

Fulbright TEA Fellows will be selected through a merit-based open competition based on the criteria below. Top candidates will be interviewed by a U.S. Embassy/U.S. Consulate General interview panel.

Applicants must:

• Be citizens of Vietnam; • Be current secondary school-level, full-time teachers at a public

school in Vietnam (including both middle and high school teachers serving students between approximately 12 and 18 years of age);

• Have five or more years of classroom experience in TEA teaching disciplines: English, English as Foreign Language, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, or Special Education;

• Have earned a bachelor’s degree or equivalent; • Demonstrate a commitment to continue teaching after completion of

the program; and • Obtain a minimum score of 450 on paper based TOEFL or equivalent

English language examination (Candidates are encouraged but NOT required to submit a certificate of English language proficiency. The U.S. Embassy and U.S. Consulate General will arrange a free internet-based TOEFL test for the shortlisted candidates).

The following individuals are NOT eligible: Officials from the Ministry of Education and Training or provincial Departments of Education and Training, full-time principals or educational administrators, full-time teacher trainers, university faculty, private English language tutors, and teachers from schools primarily serving expatriates.

Applicants who have recently participated in similar programs in the U.S. or other Western countries will be given lower priority. Teachers working in under-resourced communities will be given higher priority.

Thông Báo Chương trình Nâng cao Năng lực và Thành tích Giảng dạy Fulbright TEA

năm 2020-2021 do Bộ Ngoại giao Hoa Kỳ tài trợ Đại sứ quán Hoa Kỳ tại Hà Nội và Tổng Lãnh sự quán Hoa Kỳ tại TP Hồ Chí Minh hân hạnh thông báo Chương trình Bồi dưỡng Năng lực và Thành tích Giảng dạy (Fulbright TEA) năm 2020-2021. Do Bộ Ngoại giao Hoa Kỳ tài trợ, chương trình trao đổi này đem lại cho giáo viên trung học cơ sở và trung học phổ thông của các nước trên thế giới cơ hội phát triển năng lực trong các lĩnh vực chuyên môn, bồi dưỡng kỹ năng giảng dạy và nâng cao sự hiểu biết về đất nước Hoa Kỳ. Tổng quan về chương trình

Chương trình Fulbright TEA là chương trình học thuật sáu (06) tuần bao gồm các hội thảo chuyên đề về phương pháp giảng dạy mới, biên soạn giáo trình, soạn giáo án và công nghệ giảng dạy. Giáo viên tham dự cũng sẽ phối hợp với giáo viên Mỹ để thực hành giảng dạy tại một trường trung học của Hoa Kỳ gần trường đại học nơi tiếp nhận chương trình. Chương trình còn bao gồm các buổi sinh hoạt tìm hiểu văn hóa, tư vấn và hỗ trợ chuyên môn.

Các giáo viên quốc tế tham gia chương trình sẽ đến Hoa Kỳ vào mùa xuân 2021 hoặc mùa thu năm 2021. Chương trình sẽ tuyển tối đa năm (05) giáo viên từ các trường trung học của Việt Nam.

Toàn bộ chi phí của chương trình bao gồm: phí quản lý chương trình, vé máy bay khứ hồi trong nước và quốc tế, đi lại, ăn ở, bảo hiểm y tế, phụ cấp tìm hiểu văn hóa, phụ cấp mua sách, gửi sách về Việt Nam và các chi phí phát sinh trong chương trình sẽ được Bộ Ngoại giao Hoa Kỳ tài trợ. Quy trình và tiêu chuẩn xét tuyển Giáo viên tham gia Chương trình Fulbright TEA sẽ được xét tuyển rộng rãi dựa vào năng lực theo các tiêu chuẩn dưới đây. Các ứng viên xuất sắc nhất sẽ được ban xét tuyển của Đại sứ quán Hoa Kỳ hoặc Tổng Lãnh sự quán Hoa Kỳ phỏng vấn.

Tiêu chuẩn xét tuyển:

• Là công dân Việt Nam; • Hiện là giáo viên toàn thời gian tại một trường trung học cơ sở hoặc trung

học phổ thông công lập tại Việt Nam (giảng dạy học sinh từ 12-18 tuổi); • Có ít nhất 5 năm kinh nghiệm giảng dạy trên lớp về một trong các bộ

môn: Tiếng Anh, Khoa học Xã hội (Văn, Lịch sử, Địa Lý, Giáo dục công dân…), Khoa học Tự nhiên (Toán, Lý, Hóa, Sinh,…) hoặc Giáo dục đặc biệt (dạy học sinh khuyết tật…);

• Có ít nhất bằng Cử nhân hoặc tương đương; • Có ý định tiếp tục giảng dạy sau khi hoàn tất chương trình; • Có năng lực Tiếng Anh theo điểm TOEFL thi trên giấy tối thiểu là 450

(tương đương B1 theo Khung Năng lực Châu Âu hoặc 4.0 theo IELTS). Ứng viên không cần nộp chứng chỉ trình độ tiếng Anh nhưng khuyến khích nộp nếu sẵn có. Ứng viên vào vòng tuyển chọn cuối cùng sẽ được bố trí thi iBT TOEFL miễn phí.

Công chức thuộc Bộ/Sở Giáo dục và Đào tạo, hiệu trưởng, cán bộ quản lý giáo dục, giảng viên sư phạm, cán bộ và giảng viên các trường đại học, giáo viên tiếng Anh tư thục và giáo viên các trường dành cho học sinh nước ngoài không nằm trong diện xét tuyển. Ứng viên vừa mới tham gia các chương trình trao đổi tương tự ở Hoa Kỳ hoặc các nước Phương Tây ít được ưu tiên. Ưu tiên được dành cho giáo viên giảng dạy tại các tỉnh vùng sâu, vùng xa, vùng có điều kiện giảng dạy khó khăn.

2 . The home page allows you to view all the sections required to submit your application. Please keep track of which of those are complete, in progress, or not yet started. Note: You do not need to finish the application in one sitting. Remember your login information and you may come back to the application at any time prior to your country specific deadline.

Questions with a red asterisk (*) are required questions. The section will not be complete until all of the boxes with red asterisks are completed.

4. Section XI. Essay Questions: Please note that there are multiple components of this section.

5. Sections XII and XIII. Institutional Support and Reference Form and Leave Approval Form: In thesesections, please download and print the Institutional Support and Reference Form and Leave ApprovalForm. These forms must be completed for your application to be considered complete. Your supervisormust fill out the Institutional Support and Reference Form. The School Director at the school where youare currently employed must fill out the Leave Approval Form. Once these forms are completed, uploadan electronic copy to the system. These sections are not complete until they are uploaded.

6. Section XIV. Supplemental Documents: If you would like to upload any other documents that youfeel strengthen your application, please do so here.

7. When you have completed all sections, click “Download Application PDF” to save a copy of yourapplication for your records. Finally click “Submit Application”. The screen will show a preview of yourapplication. Review the information. If you have no further changes, click “Submit Application” a second timeand your application will be submitted.
