This month we want to put the hospital project before you. 60 miles from here. In cases of emergency the people have to do the ir bes t, whichis usually not good enough. At l as t repor t from Walter Birney, of Copeland, Kansas, who is heading thefinancial drive for the hospital, almost 30 000 had been received for this project. This left 20 000 to come, part of which is already pledged. Left yet is the moneyfor the furni sh ing in the bui ldings. Besides the Out-Patient building, the main Medical building is about ready for the roof. Other foundations have been prepared forthe ma l e and f ema l e ward s bu t w e mu s t wai t f or c o ns tr u ct io n on the se uni t s unt i lmore bricks are prepared.

We are very happy that Dr. Je r ry Smith fro m S alis bu ry h as b een abl e to comeevery two weeks to visit our clinic and assis t with the medical program. He hasgiven valuable assistance in many ways such a s o rd er ing med ic in es and suppliesand helping with difficul t cases . Central Africa Miss ion wil l be needing additionaldoctors and nurses to help in the developmen t of th is program. We hope to be ableto challenge qualified men and women to join with us in this medical ministry.

GreetingsWe are ver y la te this month in writing to you, but we ask you to please under

s tand. The work cont inues jus t the same if not a bit more and in addi t ion to thisthere is t he added responsibility of planning and preparing for furlough. There areso many le t ters to w rite a s we seek and schedule speaking appointments. We havebeen very pleased thus far with the requests for dates to present ou r m i ss ion workin the churches and camps. What has d is tu rb ed us has been that we have ha d toturn down many invi ta t ions because of previous engagements. We hope that you allwill understand. Our summer schedule wi ll soon be comple te with c am ps f ro m Indiana to Colorado, though it will le av e t ime for evening dates at churches in the areaof th e c am ps and on the way from one place to another. Karolyn and I h av e both hada l ight touch of malar ia in the past days and that is another reason for our la te report .

This past month has been one of new oppor tuni ti es and many responses to theGospel. After m an y u rg in gs fro m t he people of Badza, which is about 5 miles southof the mission and the site of a new school thi s year, I made p lans to go every Monday for a Bible class with those of the area. The 45 school children are always present, plus about 25 more children from the immediate area. Many of the older youngp eo pl e and adu lts have also been present e ach time. I have received a special blessing f^om the t ime spent with this group. They a re in more remote a rea and have l i ttle contact w ith the outs id e w orld , e xc ep t f rom occas iona l trips to the area s to re n ea rthe mission. Their knowledge is small, but they are very eager to learn. Our greatest joy was to be present for the baptism of 20 souls a week ago Monday. The groupwas compr i sed of one elder ly man, a few women, and the re s t school chi ldren . Theman had requested baptism many t imes, though he w as u na ble to walk to the r iverWhen I learned it I offered to use my car to carry him. It was a happy day as myLand R over, packed to over-f lowing with singing Christians, m ade our way to theriver. This m an had been the head man of the area until his age and infi rmi ty forced him to turn it over to his son. So we feel that a great victory has been won.

This past week I went to Sinoia and Mangula to check on the evangelists and theirwork. The work in Mangula is growing, with many Christ ians being strengthened andsome restored to the fellowship of the church. In Sinoia, Machingura, the evangelist, reported two baptisms on the previous Sunday both women) and four more to be bap-

tized the following Sunday. Wemade many inquir ie s from the Town ManagementBoard about the possibility of acquiring a church site in the town where a suitablebuilding could be built. Once a site is granted we are permitted a two-year periodin which to erect a building according to approved plans. The res t of the t ime wasspent in v is it ing fa rms nearby where there are groups of Christ ians.

We are thrilled to let you know that two families are to be arriving in Rhodesiasoon to help in our work. The Charles Kelly family from Anaheim Californiais expected in mid-April and he will assist in the work which I have been doing aswell as help with the construction and preparation of the hospital program. In Maywe are looking for the Dale Marshals from Boise Idaho. They will be going to Sin-ioa and giving the much-needed oversight to that work. It has been impossible for usto give adequate t ime and attention to the many groups there. And so much more canyet be done. So we re joice with these two who have commit ted themselves to thewo r k o f th e Lo r d h e r e in R hod e s i a

Once again we express our apprec ia t ion for a ll of you who have labored v/ith usas we witness for our wonderful Lord. We are hoping th at many of you will wan tus to come home badly enough that you will help with our furlough fund. At the endof February there was only 90 of the needed two thousand. We are trusting Ciod toprovide the remaining amount for a much-needed period of refreshment from thel a b o r s h e r e on th e f i e ld

May God bless you all as you have concerned yourself with the propagation ofH is l e s s e dWord

WHAT IS THE NORTH AMERICAN CHRISTIAN CONVENTION?The convention is a free and open gathering of interested persons. It is not a delegate convention nor a convention of churches but is an inspirational gathering of brethren in Christ. The NACC provides a platform for the preaching of the pureGospel of Jesus Christ; giving special emphasis to the restoration of the church according to the plan revealed in the NewTestament. The North American Christian Convention is notthe center around which the brotherhood is to be one the convention each year does vigorously and insistently presentthrough platform and program the divinely given pattern thathas provided the real measure of unity we have enjoyedOur unity is in Christ; hence these conventions havepreachedChrist. It is in the Scriptures; hence these conventions havedeclared the Scriptures It is in the ewTestament Church;hence these conventions have sought by emphasis on doctrineand practical method to build that church Why not plan nowto be present June 28 through July 1 at the Convention Centerin Louisville Kentucky?

    Greet ings

At the t ime of t hi s wr it ing , there is less than months remaining for us herein Rhodesia. We w ill be shipp ing o ff two drums of per sona l i tems and things fordisplay this week. Though the t ime is short now, there a re still so many things tobe done. I want to get b ack to most of the churches for a last visit, giving words ofencouragement to remain faithful to the Lord. We are hoping that the new families, the Kelleys and the Marshalls , will have arrived in the next month or so. Therew ill be much to show them as we h elp th em to get set t led in this work. We do expect , therefore, tha t the next two and a half months w ill be busy ones .

sor t of a hurdle was crossed with th is past week-end. For many weeks wehad been looking forward to the three-day preaching and teaching mee tin g in obse 'r-v an ce o f the resurrect ion of our Lord . With the successful passing of this eventhas gone the las t big affair of our t e rm. We felt very pleased and excited aboutthe way everything went a t the meet ing. The f i rs t service was Friday night, but byThursday evening, when many of the guests began arr iving, the spir i t of the meeting was already felt by many. As usual , we invited all of the neighbor ing churchesto take par t in the act ivi t ies. Some c ame from as far away as Sinoia and Vuti .Altogether about 300 people a t tended t he meet ing . And they a ll seemed to be hungrya ll o f th e t ime. Three Chr is ti an l ad i es and one te ac he r bor e the respons ib i li ty fors ee ing t ha t t he p eopl e were well-fed. Thei r job was done excep tiona lly we l l. Nearly three hundred pounds of meal ie meal were consumed, seventy-f ive pounds ofbeans, thir ty pound s o f meat f rom Karo i, one young goat, sixteen pounds of sugar ,along with milk, tea and o il fo r the beans. The co st o f p rovid ing t he f ee d was about 35. 00, but we felt that i t was well -wor th i t.

The school room was l i t with kerosene lanterns on Friday night as t he p eopl ebegan arriving for the service . The room was quickly filled and many filled thedoorway and t he out si de verandah or stood at the windows. After a rousing songservice and spec ia l mus ic by the women's group of Chidamoyo, two fine messageswere enjoyed. Som e wanted to close the serv ice by singing for ano th er hou r. Many, however, were t ired after walking long distances, so the meeting was closed. Earlythe next morning the women all gathered and wen t singing, as a group, to som e ofthe near-by v il lages where they stopped to teach those present . Some things whichwere planned were not carr ied out, because the people are unpredictable. It is impossible to hurry them. The women wer e la te in returning to the mission; the men'smeeting, composed of leaders and teachers , went over-t ime; consequently, a planned preaching s er vi ce a t 11:00 had to be omitte d. S atu rd ay a fte rn oo n was a servicefor everyone to participate in. At their meetings, they a lways g ive a chance toevery visiting leader to say a few words. Firs t on the p rogram we re the preachingboys that I have been working with. They a ll did very well and I was proud of them. After them came a long line of speakers . Last that afternoon was singing by everygroup represented. The service was very long but enjoyed by all .Saturday n ig ht we had our cus tomary bioscope. Ziden consented to show someof the mov ie s h e has taken and I showed severa l other pictures. The people love

these things. Sunday morning was our regvilar worship service Dr. Smith , whowas v isitin g th e clinic brought a very fine message about the Powerful and SavingName o f Ch ri st . Following this service we all went to the Jordan (place of baptism)and thri l led to watch as thi r ty-one souls were buried in bapt i sm. Some had comefrom great distances to be baptized. Others had come convicted dur ing the preaching of this m eeting. A fter eat ing again the meeting was brought to a close. Soulswere refreshed and h ea rt s we re l ifted. We part icularly f el t aga in , as before, how
