There are churches which will not allow a visiting missionary to speak unless a church recommendation can be shown. Since it is impos sible for any one person to know all Christians in the world, this recommendation by a respon sible New Testament church is a vital help in persuading others of your worthiness and the value of your mission. Mission Services stands ready to help you inform HORIZONS readers about your church recommendations. Since the church is sending you to the mission field (Acts 13:1-3) and will help provide the necessary needs on the field, naturally the church should share the credit in your missionary ministry. One of the ways that the church can do this is to share their conviction regarding your missionary ministry with others. Answers to questions concerning motive and purpose of our work:

I was interested and influenced for missionary work largelythrough associations. Missionary speakers at ray home church andin our home (e.g. Bernel Getter) and at camp (Mark and PaulineMaxey, Dr. Dennis Pruett, etc.) and others brought to my mind theneed and possibilities for such service.

It was not until I was attending Ozark Bible College that adefinite commitment was made. Through association with WoodrowPhillips and the school missions program and Rallies, I determined,with my future wife, to direct my life, if the Lord should lead, toa foreign field.

In searching for a field of service we quickly learned of thevast opportunities in Southern Rhodesiaand received a call fromMr. and mrs. Ziden Nutt to assist them^he newly developing Chida-Tioyo Mission, at Karoi, Southern Rhodesia.

I will be devoting my time primarily to the evangelistic outreach of the mission. I will visit the congregations, assist inteaching congregations and leaders, and look toward the opening ofnew community areas for the gospel.

My wife, besides caring for the vamily, will assist with theoffice work and teach area women's and children's groups.

Dear Bro. McGilvrey;

It is our desire and purpose to localize our support in theJoplin and Carthage areas, that we may spend our time here on furlough. This way, furlough will not be such a hectic and strenuous time. Our living link support is already promised. We haveyet to raise aoproximately #300 a month working funds, plus sometravel and equipment funds, but we are making further contacts inthis area. We will appreciate your publicity and news coverage ofour plans and work, but would prefer that it not be an appeal forfunds from across the country.

Thank you very much for your interest and assistance. We willkeep you informed in the future. We will send the letters of recommendation shortly. We are using them in the preparation of abrochure.

Sincerely in Christ,

P.S. We have been formally approved and endorsed by the SouthernRhodesian Mission Board of Trustees.

Am enclosing some clippings and photos. You might get some information or be able to use them.
