Allora Snare AnimalsCricketers Steve Hughes and Allan Petersingham led from the front for the Allora side on Saturday at Allora Oval as they guided the team to its initial victory of the season over Sovereign Hotel Animals.

Hughes opened the batting hitting a solid 21 and later was the best of Allora’s bowlers taking 3 for 15 off just four overs. Petersignham impressed with his class as he built an innings of 53, his second half century for the season, his contribution to Allora’s total of 136 off twenty overs. The Society appreciates their making time to attend meetings and for their assistance. With the new picket fence almost completed, President Allan thanked those members who have worked on the project. A special thank you was extended to Bob Lawson and Andrew Westerman who helped our members. The Society would like to record their appreciation of Michael Maher’s generous donation of the sand and gravel used. The project under way at present is the restoration and copying of the Mayoral and Shire Chairmen Photo Collection. This project was made possible with an R.A.D .F Grant and the generosity of the late Mary Clarke who donated the proceeds of the sales of her family history book towards this special project. Mary was a descendant of Mayor Samuel Gordon. The Society members will shortly commence painting and repair of the walls of the upstairs meeting room and are

A big thanks to all those who put the time in, it is much appreciated from all who play.Don’t forget your sand buckets and remember - to play is to live. Allora Social Bowls

Club NotesThis week most of the players on the six rinks quietly enjoyed their

bowls. The same could not be said for rink five. Sorry readers I have to report that there was much swearing and sledging. The opposing teams were out to outdo each other with b.s.. Nevertheless a great night of bowls was enjoyed, the teams being neck and neck until the last end. ‘The Old Boys’ were very lazy and played the opposite ends from where the bowls came to rest. Lyn P assured us all that they were still playing 22.7m ends?Barry Donegan never got his chance to ‘drive’ all night but was happy to win a pizza from the Railway Hotel, have a go at the Jack Pot put up by Wilson and Rigby and the Allora Hardware AND win the’ losers’ prize of a six pack! The winning ‘winners’ team of Paddo and Co thrashed poor Beetle’s team.Members are reminded of meeting at the Sports Club at 6.30pm on Monday 10th December, 2012
