Josh Calvert – Main Character

• Josh will people playing the nerdy character that follows the leader around wanting to be accepted but is nothing like the other two. This person was chosen because firstly, he has experience because last year he was the main character in title and opening sequence. As well as this, he is actually quite short and nerdy in real life as he loves all things Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and has lots of shirts to do with these.

• I want him to be short because he is meant to be the most vulnerable and generally shorter people are more vulnerable because they cant defend themselves against someone bigger than them.

Jack Farrell – Leader of the Gang

• Jack will play the leader of the gang because in real life he is strong leader and loves to get his opinion heard by everyone especially since he took on the role of head boy. The leader in my music video will be strong, confident and will lead the others into trouble.

• I think he can bring his leader like skills to my music video because no matter where he is or what he is doing he is very out going. He is also suitable for my music video because he is quiet tall which will show power against Josh, the main character.

Tom Godfrey – Follows the leader around

• Tom will play the other member of the gang, he will be the person who also doesn’t fit in but is trying so hard to, he will also be the closest friend of the leader. He is suitable for this role because he is a very friendly person in real life and always wants to fit in which I feel he could try recreate in my music video. Tom is really tall however, he is a very awkward person which still makes him more vulnerable against the gang leader.

Robyn Whitworth – girl that gets picked on

• Robyn will be the minor character that is getting picked on by the gang just before another woman calls the police. She is suitable for the role because she is naturally shy why she can bring to my music video as the gang are picking on her because she is shy. The character Robyn will play is quiet a shy girl who is quite lonely but just likes to walk about the streets on her own. She will be able to play this role because in real life she is actually quiet shy meaning she will be able to act this very well.

Props

Handcuffs

• Handcuffs are used in my music video when the main character, Josh gets arrested after breaking into the house. There will then be a close up of them. The prop will be used to show that he has been arrested. The prop will be used once and be used by the police officer (you don’t see) on the main character. This prop is very important as it makes the scene look more realistic as well as show the audience what they need to know.

Guitar

• The guitar will appear at the start of the music video when the song starts. The person using the prop will be Josh who is my main character in my narrative will also be the main person in my performance. The prop is used in these scenes to make the music video look more realistic therefore making it a really important prop.

Page 9: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Piano

• The appearance of this prop is only once, towards the end of the music video. The prop will be played once when the only instrument playing in the song is the piano. This allows the audience to build a connection with it.

• The prop will be used by Josh, the main person in my music video. This prop is used to make the scene more realistic because when I am using this prop, it is the only one you here so it is needed

Page 10: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Drums

• The appearance of the drums will only be once as the only time they are shown is when the drums are clearly heard and are the main thing you hear. The drums will be used by Josh even though this prop isn’t the most important because even though it makes the music video more realistic it can be easily replaced by other shots.

Costumes

Josh Calvert – Black Jeans

• Josh will be wearing black skinny jeans because they are quite trendy which allows the audience to relate to the character. These will be worn like normal jeans and not half way down his legs since his character is meant to be nerdy and not meant to look like a chav.

Page 13: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Shirt

• Josh’s character will wear this because his character is nerdy and will be shown because he is wearing a shirt that has a reference to both maths and Lord Of The Rings. As well as this, his character will be relatable because being nerdy is seen as cool now and everyone is always trying to fit in.

Page 14: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Black shoes

• He will wear these because black is a trendy colour as well as the fact that converse/ converse style shoes are fashionable and they are suitable for all types of weather and for all types of people.

• Another reason why Josh will wear these is because they are relatable to the target audience who are likely to wear these a lot of the time.

Page 15: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Jack Farrell – Joggers

• Grey joggers will be worn because they are known to be worn by chavs. They will been worn baggy because a lot of people do this therefore if the character does this the audience may find it relatable.

• The brand of these will be Adidas because they are a very popular make and lots of people want and have this brand meaning that the audience will find this also relatable.

Page 16: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Hoodie

• A grey hoodie will be worn by the leader of the gang because he is the only person his group that is genuinely who he is so will be wearing the appropriate clothes. The hood may be up so people will not be able to tell who he is from the back and it will be harder to see the face of the character especially since he will be involved in illegal activity.

• The brand of the grey hoodie will be adidas because as I mentioned earlier, it is a very relatable brand because lots of teenagers want and have Adidas whether they are male or female.

• I chose the colour grey because this is also relatable to the audience as some people wear this colour to blend into the background so they aren't standing out and being noticed compared to everyone else, it means that they can do things wrong and they wont stand out doing it.

Page 17: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Converse

• Converse are worn by everyone making it relatable to the audience. The laces will not be tied to the front and the shoes will be very loose further suggesting that the character is part of a gang.

Page 18: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Tom Godfrey – Band Shirt

• Tom’s character will wear a black shirt with short sleeves that is to do with a band because that’s what he likes to wear and even though he is trying to fit in and be friend with the leader he just cant help wearing the shirts that he likes to wear. The clothing will be black because it is fashionable and relatable to the audience.

• He will be wearing band merchandise because it will form a connection with the audience about the song. The colour will be black because it will represent what he is feeling with him not being himself and pretending to be someone else.

Page 19: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Blue Jeans

• Blue jeans are relatable to the audience because they are worn by a lot of people, such as the audience. They will be able to relate to this because they will also like wearing jeans so may wear blue and black.

• He will be wearing jeans because he is still wanting to be quite trendy and doesn’t want to wear grey joggers and a hoodie.

Page 20: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Converse

• Tom’s character will wear similar black shoes to the leader because it will show that he is trying to copy him however they will be tied up properly to suggest the fact that even though he is trying to act cool, his own personality is coming through.

• He will wear black converse because they are trendy and will be worn by everyone especially the target audience who also wear them.

Page 21: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Robyn Whitworth – maroon shirt

• This style of shirt will be worn because the young girl that is being picked on is quite fashionable since a lot of girls try keep up with fashion and trends. The female audience will be able to relate to this because they will also know what it is like trying to keep up with fashion.

• The maroon shirt will be worn to reflect the mood was feeling before the gang came up to her. She was feeling quite independent and happy at that moment in time but just had to change later on.

Page 22: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Black Ripped Jeans

• Black ripped jeans are in fashion and the rips are quite trendy right now whether it is men or women wearing ripped jeans. Because Robyn’s character will be wearing them it shows she is quite fashionable, allowing the audience to relate to her.

Page 23: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Black converse

• As I have said previously, the colour black and converse are in fashion showing the audience that the character is fashionable. These will be tied up normally and not baggy or too tight.

Locations

Page 25: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Halifax Town

• My first location is Halifax town. • In this location the gang will meet up down an alley way to talk

about what they will be doing before walking away to the next location. They will meet here because it is quite secluded showing the audience that they are talking about something bad and don’t want to be overhead by other people.

• I will record this during the day because my song is happy so should be filmed in the brightness of the day.

• The advantages of using this location is that it is very local so it isn’t very hard for the actors to get there. Another advantage of this is that it is a known place for groups of people to hang out and do nothing all day therefore making it relatable to the audience.

Page 26: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

White Room

• This location is a normal room with a white background. In this location the majority of the performance will happen. I will record during the day so the room will have a natural light. The advantages of this location is that it is simple meaning it conforms to one of the codes and conventions of the indie genre. An issue of this location is that other people may want to use it at the same time meaning it will be hard to make sure it is free for when I need it.

Page 27: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Street

• This location is just on a street, not on a main road where there are would be shops. There are only houses because near a shop on a main road would mean there are lots of people walking about who would be witnesses whereas with only houses people are only sat down watching TV for hours and would not necessarily notice anything dodgy going on their street

• In this location a the gang will start shouting and pushing a younger person about but a woman in a window of a random house will notice and call the police on them. I will record during the day because it will be a younger child that is being pushed around and they wouldn’t be out at night as well as this the darkness does fit it with the mood of the song. The advantages of this location is that it is local to another one of my locations meaning that it makes it easier when trying to film in other parts of my music video. An issue that may arise is the fact the because it is public, people in their houses might see and think it is real and call the police.

Page 28: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

House (Inside and Out)

• The next location is a house. The events that will occur here is the group trying to break into the house then they start routing through it look for valuables, which will be why they are arrested.

• I will record during the day because it allows the audience to see what the actors are doing where as at night it will be harder to see the actions of the actors at night. As well as this, Burglars usually strike at night meaning people are more prepared for it than during the day.

• The advantages of this location is that it is my own house meaning I will have access to this at anytime I want. The issues that may arise is that people on the street may actually think it is a real break in.

Page 29: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Police Cell

• This location is a police cell. In this location the main character will be trapped in here after being in court. They will be singing the song whilst looking sad that he messed up his life after following the crowd, trying to fit in. I will probably film in the day however I doubt it makes a difference because there may not be windows in the police cell for the audience to be able to tell what time of day it is. The advantage of using this location is that it looks realistic making the music video look better. An issue that may arise is the fact the police department might not left me film in their police cell.

Page 30: Actors, Props, Costumes and Locations

Hall

• This location is a hall in my school that I will convert to try make it look like a court room because it is normally a clear open space. In this location the main character will be on trail in front of the judge pleading to be let out but is sent back to the police cell. I will record in this location during the day because firstly I will be unable to film here at night, as well as this when people are in court it usually takes place during the day.
