Occupation Safety and Health Ad-ministration (OSHA) has established permissible exposure levels (PEL) for healthcare professionals to a variety of toxic substances. Vapor Moni-tors from NevinLabs can be worn as a badge near the breathing zone to measure personal exposure, or placed in a room to measure area concentration. When package is opened, badge should be clipped close to the breathing zone, on shirt collar or blouse for personal monitor-ing, or placed in room for area moni-toring. User records his/her name, start time, and additional information as requested. When test is completed, stop time is recorded and badge is re-turned for analysis in mailer provided. Laboratory measures amount of vapor collected and reports time-weighed average (TWA) concentration in parts per million (PPM). TWA is what OSHA requires for compliance. Analysis report indicating if exposure is below or above acceptable limits is sent by mail in about a week. If exposure is too high, you receive practical sug-gestions for reducing it to safe level. Nevin Chemical vapor monitor reports are accepted by OSHA and NIOSH.
