DAY 5SIEM REAP (CAMBODIA) You’ll begin your day at Angkor Wat, the most recognizable landmark in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world. The temple boasts the longest continuous bas-relief sculpture in existence. In the morning explore the temple at leisure. Then tour the city center of Siem Reap by remork (motocycle rickshaw), passing charming open-air markets. The tour will introduce you to Siem Reap’s many dining and shopping options, which you will have plenty of time to explore later in the day. (B, L)

DAY 6SIEM REAP (CAMBODIA) Today, you’ll visit Banteay Srey—considered to be the pinnacle of artistic achievement at Angkor—and Banteay Samré. In the afternoon, you’ll see the temple of Ta Prohm, which has been overtaken by the jungle; tentacle-like tree roots spill over millennium-old roofs, enveloping the entire structure. After your afternoon at leisure, guest will enjoy a private dinner with Apsara show at a local venue. (B/D)

DAY 7SIEM REAP, TRANSFER TO KAMPONG CHAM (CAMBODIA) Today’s expedition encompasses the south gate of Angkor Thom, once the capital of the Khmer empire, and the pyramid temple of Bayon with its iconic (and enormous) carved heads. The afternoon ends with a walk around Baphuon Temple, the Terrace of the Elephants, and the moss-encrusted Terrace of the Leper King. You will then travel to Kampong Cham, where you will board the intimate Mekong Navigator. In the evening, indulge in a special Cambodian Themed Dinner. (B, L, R, D)

DAY 8WAT HANCHEY / KAMPONG CHAMThis morning, you visit a local, secondary school, which serves eight surrounding districts. Following a tour of the school and an interesting Q&A opportunity with the principal and students, you walk up the hill to the temple of Wat Hanchey and receive a traditional Buddhist water blessing from the monastery’s resident monks. After a peaceful walk around the monastery, we descend the massive, concrete stairway, surrounded by the incredible view of the Mekong River below, and return to the ship for lunch.

Following lunch, you enjoy a drive through the city of Kampong Cham to visit the hills of Phnom Pros (man hill) and Phnom Srei (woman hill), the incredible stupa, the 10-meter long reclining Buddha, and the 13-meter tall preaching Buddha. Today’s final visit is to the 12th century, Angkorian-period complex of Wat Nokor Bachey, which features several original Buddha statues and stone inscriptions. After your return to the ship, begin your sail down the Mekong. (B/L/D).

Guests return to their cyclos for the short ride to the National Museum ending the morning with a comprehensive tour of the many Angkorian-period artifacts excavated at the Angkor Temple complex at Siem Reap.

Guests will enjoy a free afternoon in Phnom Penh to enjoy their time independently shopping or at one of the many wonderful restaurants and pubs nearby. (B/L/D/Cultural Performance)

Day 11PHNOM PENHThis morning, guests learn more about the darkest days of Cambodian history. Before returning to the ship, guests will also tour Tuol Sleng (also known as S-21), the former school that was converted to the main prison and torture headquarters of the Khmer Rouge. Guests enjoy one last free afternoon in Phnom Penh, before we set sail this evening to the border of Cambodia & Vietnam. (B/L/D) Day 12BORDER CROSSING / TAN CHAUThis morning you will spend a few hours processing through immigration before continuing downstream to Tan Chau, Vietnam. Experience vastly different ways of life along the Mekong Delta today when sampans sail to a temple of the Cao Dai religion, one of the unique amalgam religions founded in Vietnam in an effort to stop the fighting between various faiths. Enjoy a 15- minute ride on a xe loi (local Vietnamese tuk-tuk), to a family-owned mat weaving workshop, before returning to the sampans to visit a floating fish farm and to walk through a local village on Evergreen Island. (B/L/D)

Day 13SA DEC / CAI BE Following breakfast this morning, we board sampans to navigate the narrow canals of the Mekong.
