Attendance• Good news: we have reduced the number of

holidays taken in term time – thank you!• The joint infant and junior panel have a more

flexible approach in order to review forms more quickly.

• Not such good news: sadly both the Infant and Junior schools had parents who were fined during the last academic year.

Expectations:Children are expected to be in school on time and be

ready to learn. Children will need a water bottle and a healthy snack

for breaktime to help children remain attentive throughout the morning

As children move up the school, they will be encouraged to be more independent learners in preparation for the Upper School

Children will be role models for the children in Year 3There are more opportunities for children to take on

positions of responsibility such as becoming a sports leader or within the classroom

Organisation of learning

In Year 4, children are taught within their own class base

All work is differentiated and individualised for the needs of the child

Children with specific needs may also work outside the classroom for short learning sessions with an additional adult

EnglishOur English is in blocks of 2 – 4 week

slots- with a range of different contexts in order to teach children the skills within the areas of:

Reading: Word reading, Comprehension

Writing: Handwriting, Composition, Vocabulary, grammar and punctuation

Spelling: Spelling patterns/ rules, Word lists

Maths We are following the Curriculum 2014 All areas are covered in the first term and then

revisited in the following terms. This allows knowledge to be consolidated and deepened.
